NELLIE SMITH GARRISON
Mrs Nellie Garrison passed away at the age of 85 in her
home in Ozark following a long illness.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ozark.
Surviving are three daughters:
Mamie Marley , Cleo Merrifield, both of Ozark; Fern Hurst
of Forsyth; 13 grandchildren; 18 gr-grandchildren; one
brother Harold Smith, Portland, Oregon; four sisters:
Belle Canard, Ozark;Kate Webb,Seattle, WA.and Bessie Smith
and Maude Weyer of Portland, Oregon.
Funeral services were in the Harris Chapel with the
Rev. Harold Hurst officiating, assisted by the
Rev. Ivan Coyle. Burial was in the Ozark Cemetery,Ozark,
Christian County,Missouri
On January 21, 1900 she married LEE C GARRISON.
She was the daughter of Marion Smith and Sarah M. Rhodes.

EUGENE SOMAN
Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of
the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Oswego for
Eugene "Gene" Soman Sr., who died Sunday in a local care
center. He was 71.
Born in Denver, Colo., Mr. Somann lived in the Portland
area for 68 years. A sheet metal worker, he was a member of
Milwaukie Elks and Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Carmel; son, Eugene Jr. of
Portland; daughter, Corrine Gangi of Pitman, N.J.;
sister, Mary Shipley of Tacoma, Wash.; six grandchildren;
and four great-grandchildren.

F.Marion Smith,98,One of Christian County's oldest
residents died early Friday morning,July 30, 1954 at the
home of a daughter,Mrs. Lee Garrison of Ozark.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, August 1, at 2 p.m.
in the Chaffin Chapel with the Rev. Harold Hurst
officiating. Burial in the Ozark Cemetery under direction
of Chaffin Funeral Home of Ozark.
A retired blacksmith,Mr. Smith moved to the Ozark community
89 years ago, traveling from Southern Arkansas with his
family in an ox cart.
He is survived by four other daughters, Mrs. Belle Canard
of Ozark,Miss Bessie Smith and Mrs. Maude Weyer, both of
Portland, Oregon, and Mrs. Kate Webb of Edmond, Washington;
three sons, Charles and Frank (addresses unknown) and
Harold Smith who lives in California;32 grandchildren;49
great-grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.
