If you are a HAMILTON researcher, welcome.
Want to SHARE my information. Have spent many years collecting this
research and hope you will share your information and photos.

Includes collateral families:
Allen, Ames, Baker, Bell, Benton, Bohannon, Brassfield, Childers,
Clinton, Crabtree, Cross, Daniels, Darrow, Eddings, Flanigan, Garner Green,Hardin,Hendrix, Henson, Hickman, Johnson, Lane, Lockart,Miller

others.

DAVID HAMILTON was born 1786 Scotts County, Virginia ?
Others say he was born in Kentucky County, Virginia (now Sumner
County, Tennessee).
His father is said to be WILLIAM HAMILTON and his mother ELIZABETH
WRIGHT.
William Hamilton was born 1752 in Virginia
His parents were Thomas HAMILTON born ca 1725 in Scotland
and JANE McCRACKEN born ca 1725 in Ireland
William probably died in Sumner County, Tennessee as his sons,
David and William, were raised by their uncle THOMAS HAMILTON II
and grandfather THOMAS HAMILTON I who were living in Sumner County,
Tennessee.
Was David Hamilton related to Joseph P Hamilton born 1796 in Tennnesse
and who died 1884 Faulkner County, Arkansas??

David served in Fifth Virginia Regiment, War of 1812, for 2 years
and was mustered out at age 28.
He was living in Boone County, Kentucky when he received an
inheritance from his maternal Wright grandparents.
A married sister also lived in Boone County, Kentucky
David married ELIZABETH CRABTREE in Boone County,Kentucky in 1818
(this area was Kentucky County, Virginia up to 1792 and then later
became Kentucky).
David moved to Sullivan County, Indiana and was in Indiana until
1827 where his sons were born.
David's brother WILLIAM H. HAMILTON was with him in Sullivan County
Indiana in 1820.
David went to Arkansas and entered lands but did not prove-up the
land as it was poor quality.
There is a David Hamilton in "Arkansas Military Bounty Grants, War
of 1812" Index. David Hamilton, Prairie County, Arkansas, Warrant
No. 18,945, patent year 1821.
This is evidently the "poor quality" land he had received in his
War of 1812 Land Grant.
He returned to Arkansas before 1838 with his half brother William
H. Hamilton.
Thank you Jo Fischer for your help on David Hamilton.

David is on Population Schedule for Pope County, Arkansas in 1839
and 1840. He is on the 1840 Pope County, Arkansas Census.
Before 1850 he moved to Searcy County, Arkansas at Point Peter,in
Richland Township. This is the same area that John "Jack "Hamilton
settled at. Were they related?
David Hamilton was living with his son JAMES HAMILTON in 1860 in
Searcy County, Arkansas, Visit 330-323.

Accidentally shot himself.

 Marshal Republican Newspaper
Fatal accident:
Mr. JOSEPH HAMILTON of Richland, this county, accidentally shot and
killed himself last Tuesday. He was killing hogs and had discharged
his gun, and re-loaded it, but after knocking around building fires
etc. he returned to where he had left the gun, and forgetting whether
he loaded it or not, placed his foot on the hammer and proceeded to
blow in at the muzzle, to ascertain whether it was loaded, when his
foot slipped discharging the gun; the ball entered his mouth and came
out at the back of the head, killing him instantly.
Deceased leaves a family and a large circle of friends and relatives
to mourn his death.
He was buried Wednesday near his home with Masonic honors, so we
understand.
