married JOHN T COOKSEY, Jr.about 1846 in Johnson County, Arkansas.

He is said to have moved to Texas.
I have record of six children for Barton Doolin:

Barton Doolin had Cash Entry for land on 1 July 1859 in Johnson County,
Arkansas in Section 28, Township 12 North, Range 21 West, consisting
of 40 acres.
They were on the 1860 and 1870 Johnson County, Arkansas
Census at Pilot Rock Township.

(3)Melinda B Doolin b l834 in Madison County, Missouri.
It is said she married Mr. ROBINSON about 1851 and they were the
parents of Narcissus Jane Robinson who married SQUIRE ESSEX.

Melinda Doolin Robinson then married (2)Mr. WOODWARD and they had a
daughter Mary Ann Woodward.
Melinda then married (3)DANIEL E HAMM about May 1856.
They are on the 1860, 1870 and 1880 Newton County,Arkansas Census

His known children by second wife were:
(8) William "Bill"Doolin born 1858 in Johnson County,Arkansas

Oklahoma Territory.
Bill Doolin rode briefly with the Dalton Gang but later formed his
own Doolin gang which operated mostly in Oklahoma but did range up
into Arkansas and Kansas.
The Doolin Gang was notorious for robbery, killings and horse
thieving

Marshall Bill Tilghman arrested Bill Doolin when Bill went to
Eureka Springs, Arkansas to seek the healing treatment of the hot
springs there to ease the pain of his rheumatism. Bill was returned
to the Guthrie, Oklahoma jail.

Bill Doolin and several others escaped from the jail.
He planned on taking his wife and son and starting a new life.
On 24 Aug 1896 Bill Doolin was shot and killed by Deputy Marshal
Heck Thomas in Lawson(Lawton?),Oklahoma Territory as he attempted
to leave with his family.
Doolin had married EDITH ELLSWORTH in March of 1893 in Kingfisher,

Edith Ellsworth Doolin later remarried to SAMUEL MEEK and son
Jay assumed his stepfather's name, living in Ponca City,
Oklahoma.

(9) Tennessee Doolin born 1859 in Johnson County,Arkansas
(no further information).

In his book "New Ozark Cousins" ,Bud Phillips speaks of the Doolin
family.
He tells about the father of Mary Stephens Doolin
(Jackey Bowman Stephens)who lived in what was then Cape Girardeau
County, but later Madison County, Missouri.

On 13 Dec 1920, Mr. Stephens, his wife Elizabeth Taylor Stephens, and
two small sons were murdered by a man named John Duncan. Duncan was
later hanged for the crime.
Daughters Mary and Bethsadi Stephens were left orphans by this murder.
It is said that Bethsadi Stephens married ALEXANDER HAMPTON.
The land inherited by these two orphan girls was sold when they left
the county.
