ADDENDUM:
I find that men gave their ages as 21 when they were not yet that
age, so the ages listed in these records are a rough estimate.
Women sometimes gave their ages to correspond with the man�s age.
If they were actually older than he, they would state their age
younger than the mans.
Even widowed women are listed as Miss.....
The man signing as surety was usually a member of the family---if the
girl were under age, it was usually the father that signed as surety.
Many used nicknames, so it is very hard sometimes to figure out their
true name. One time they would use their initials and then again
sometimes would use their middle name.

If you have any question, you can look at the microfilm yourself or
go to Newton County,Arkansas Clerks Office and read the records for
yourself.
I tried my best to be accurate in transcribing these records.
