The following extract is from the book “Kerrisons in Tasmania 1835-1985” by Mandi Ann Haynes nee Kerrison, page 60:
Robert’s first wife was Elizabeth Stone house, who bore him five children and died at the birth of the last, Thomas. The baby was cared for by his Stonehouse grandparents and Elizabeth’s sister Nancy went to housekeep for Robert and care for the other children. Robert and Nancy subsequently married but no further children were born.
Robert was known to almost everyone in the district as “Uncle Bob”. His quiet unassuming nature and his kindly smile won him the high esteem of a very large circle of friends. His home at Winkleigh was always open and neither a minister nor a tramp was known to leave there without a meal.
