Notes for Thomas (Spouse 2)
As per records of the Church of Ireland in Rathmolyon, Thomas was baptised privately on 18/8/1824 and publicly on 22/8/1824- by Samuel Magee. The records show that his parents William & Ann Gee lived at Isaacstown, Rathmolyon.
Arrived in Hobart on 2/5/1832 on the "Cleopatra", from Dublin with his parents and siblings. The family plot at the White Hills Church of England Cemetery only has the initials and GEE for each person buried there. They are: E. Gee, L. Gee, T. Gee, A.L. Gee, E. Doubleday, W. Gee, A. Gee, L.L. Gee and N.R. Gee. It is assumed that the E. Doubleday was either a brother or sister of H.C. Doubleday, the wife of Thomas's son Thomas Samuel Gee.
Thomas owned the property Bullocks Hunting Ground near Patersonia. The land had originally been granted to a Mr Bullock, but then owned by Thomas (followed by his sons) for many years. He had a sawpit there, and pit-sawn timber was carted from there by bullock drawn timber jinker. The Hunting Ground is now owned by the Scott's of "Dunedin" St Leonards. Apparently there used to be a track that went from White Hills through the back of Dunedin to the Hunting Ground.
