MILL CREEK CEMETERY     A.K.A.  Buzzard Cemetery

Catalogued August 30, 1975 by Mr. & Mrs. Glen Ewing of Richland Center, Wisconsin. Located along a town road 0.5 mile west of County Trunk E, section 36, Town of Sylvan. The cemetery land was owned in 1874 by J. G. Ewers and in 1895 by N. I. Ewers. It began as a churchyard cemetery of a United Brethren Church. It became public following the removal of the church building. The nearby settlement of  Mill Creek once added to the livelihood and status of this Pine Valley section west of what is known as the Mill Creek flowage southward toward the village of Boaz. A grist and saw mill, barber shop, U. S. Post Office, cheese factory and a Methodist church formed the nucleus for all local residents of the valley. It's modest beginning later gave way to the more commanding location down stream of the once second choice village of Boaz. This small country cemetery has been well kept. The first known burial was in 1855.
