Jane Devine1

F, (circa 1781 - 14 September 1856)
     Jane Devine was born circa 1781.1 She was the daughter of Pierre Devine.1 Jane Devine married Abner Updegraff, son of John Updegraff and Ann Harlan, on Friday, 31 December 1802.1 Jane Devine died on 14 September 1856 at Ligonier, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.1
     Jane's father, Pierre DeVine / DeVeau / DuVeau, was born in France and came to Pennsylvania about 1737, soon after he settled in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Shortly after settling he was killed in an Indian outbreak, his wife died of shock at hearing the news, leaving a newborn baby girl, who was given the name of Jane, possibly her mother's name and was raised by kind neighbors named Gibson.
