Samuel Updegraff

     Samuel Updegraff was born on 9 June 1776.1 He was the son of Derrick Updegraff and Susan Stricker. Samuel Updegraff married, at age 27, Sarah Shaeffer, age 21 on Tuesday, 15 May 1804 at Muncy, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 Samuel Updegraff died on 25 February 1835 at age 58 years, 8 months and 16 days. He was buried in the Old Fourth Street Cemetery, located in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1
     Samuel inherited his father's homestead 'Long Reach' in Lycoming County, PA, along with his brother Daniel, where he remained the rest of his life.

Samuel that is listed in the 1810 census Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, PA and also in the 1820 and 1830 census are probably this Samuel.

Samuel died intestate - Letters of Administration were issued in 1835 at Williamsport, Lycoming County Courthouse - probated Mar. 9, 1835, to Sarah Updegraff, Derrick Updegraff and A. Crothers; sureties were D. Updegraff, John Carothers; gdn. App. C-204. Reference: 'Probate Records 1795 - 1850', page 136.
