Bruce William Waltz1

     Bruce William Waltz was born on 21 November 1924 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Lawrence Emerson Waltz and Elsie Marie Decker.1 Bruce William Waltz married, at age 26, Carolyn Sue Bauman on Saturday, 6 October 1951 at Chevy Chase, Montgomery County, Maryland.1 Bruce William Waltz married, at age 64, Antonina K. Rosborough on Monday, 10 July 1989 at Valley Forge, Chester County, Pennsylvania.1 Bruce William Waltz died on 6 January 2007 at age 82 years, 1 month and 16 days.1
     His obituary was published on 12 January 2007 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:

     Bruce W. Waltz of Newtown Square, formerly of Doylestown, died Saturday, January 6, 2007, at his residence. He was 82.

He was the husband of Antonina Kusik Rosborough Waltz.

Born in Williamsport, PA, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Elsie Decker Waltz.

Bruce proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps during WW II, interrupting his education at Lehigh University to serve as Captain in the Air Force, flying B-17 Bombers. He completed a tour of duty with the 483rd Bomb Group (Heavy) 15th Air Force in Italy.

From 1949 to 1961 he served in the Air Force Reserve, 9550th Reserve Training Squadron, Willow Grove Air Reserve facility. In 1961, Bruce served as United States Air Force Academy Liaison Officer with his primary area of responsibility being Bucks County. He was also official counselor and spokesman for the Academy on admissions matters, working with prospective and successful candidates, high school counselors and congressional staff.

Bruce retired as Lieutenant Colonel, receiving many awards and decorations, namely Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters and Air Force Commendation Medal, to name only a few. He was an active parishioner at Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge Park and former senator warden and usher at Church of the Redemption in Southampton, PA.

Bruce graduated from Williamsport High School in 1942 and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University in 1948. He also worked for Herman Goldner in Broomall, PA for over five years. In his retirement, Bruce enjoyed traveling with his wife in the United States and Europe.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Bruce W. Waltz, Jr. and his wife Jan of Chalfont, PA, Mark A. Waltz and his wife Margie of Houston, TX, his daughter, Christine Waltz Dallaire and her husband Richard of Chevy Chase, MD and his six grandchildren, Bryan, Kevin, Mackenzie, Morgane, Michelle and Jacqueline. Bruce is also survived by his former wife, Carolyn Baumann Boor of Doylestown, PA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass 11 AM, Monday, January 15, 2007, at Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge Park, Route 23, Valley Forge, PA, where the public is invited after 10 AM. Interment will be held in the adjoining church cemetery. The family requests that flowers not be sent. Instead, memorial contributions in Bruce’s name may be made to the Washington Memorial Heritage, P.O. Box 98, Valley Forge, PA 19482. Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, Doylestown.
