     Robert LaRue Hafer was born on 2 October 1934 at Linden, Woodward Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Harry Clifton Hafer and Bessie Gilbert.1 Robert LaRue Hafer married, at age 24, Mary Frances Rice, daughter of Raymond Rice and Betty Dauler, on Saturday, 27 June 1959 at Buchanan Baptist Church, Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, by the Reverend Cleon L. Haight.2,1 Robert LaRue Hafer died on 17 November 2003 at 601 Chestnut Ridge Road, Jersey Shore, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 69 years, 1 month and 15 days.1 He was buried on 20 November 2003 in the Woodward Township Cemetery, located in Woodward Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend Cleon L. Haight.1
     Robert LaRue Hafer was an auto body instructor circa 1973 at from Pennsylvania College of Technology, located in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 His obituary was published on 18 November 2003 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:

     Robert L. Hafer, 69, of 601 Chestnut Ridge Road, Jersey Shore, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at his home.

He and his wife, the former Mary F. Rice, celebrated their 44th anniversary on June 27.

Bob retired in 1998 after 29 1/2 years at Penn College as an auto body instructor. He served a tour of duty in France with the U.S. Army and received his high school diploma while there. He graduated from the Williamsport Area Community College and attended Penn State University. He attended Anthony Baptist Church. He was a member of the Lincoln and Continental Owners Club and a member of the former Crest Motor Club. Bob was an avid car collector and enjoyed restoring old cars.

Born Oct. 2, 1934, in Linden, he was the son of Harry C. and Bessie Gilbert Hafer.

Surviving besides his wife are his daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Edward Watson of Jersey Shore; sisters, Margaret Drayer of Monmouth Junction, N.J. and Sara Jane Metzger of Cogan Station; a brother, David Hafer of Sayre; and three grandchildren, Sara, Robert and Abigail.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Ave., with the Rev. Cleon L. Haight, his former pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Woodward Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests donations to the New Tribes Institute, 241 Old Forge Hill Road, Jersey Shore, PA 17740.1
