Donald Ogden Poff1

     Donald Ogden Poff was born on 6 February 1921 at Albany, Gentry County, Missouri.1 He was the son of Robert Pearl Poff and Hattie Mae Cross.1 Donald Ogden Poff married June Kuhne circa 1947.1 Donald Ogden Poff died on 14 October 2001 at Helendale, San Bernardino County, California, at age 80 years, 8 months and 8 days.1
     He began military service on 25 November 1940 entering World War II as a radio operator with the 76th Infantry Divison and also serving in General George Patton's Third Army. He participated in actions in Germany, France, and Central Europe including the Battle of the Bulge, also known as the Ardennes Offensive.1 His obituary was published on 16 October 2001 in the The Daily Press, printed in Victorville, San Bernardino County, California. His obituary stated:

     Donald O. Poff, 80, died Oct. 14, 2001, at home from cardiac arrest. Born in Albany, Mo., he lived in Silver Lakes for 12 of his 56 years in California. He was a retired salesperson after 40 years, last working for Griffith Labs. He was a World War II veteran in Army Communications. He was a member of Masons-Athens No. 127 in Albany, Mo., and a member of Grace Bible Church in Silver Lakes. He is survived by wife June and son Rod, both of Silver Lakes; daughter Chris Weatherspoon and her husband Cephus of Santa Ana; brother Ed and his wife Marilyn of Albany, Mo; granddaughters Tami Dameron and Angela, both of Charlotte, N.C., and Meagan Weatherspoon of Long Beach; grandson Richard West of Capistrano Beach; six great-grandchildren; and two nephews. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Bible Church in Silver Lakes, with Pastors Dale Sharp and Allen Barnes officiating. Burial will be at Albany, Mo. Victor Valley Mortuary is handling arrangements.
