Mary Elizabeth Ulmer

     Mary Elizabeth Ulmer was born on 5 May 1873 at farm of John Ulmer, Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of John Ulmer and Christina Foltz. Mary Elizabeth Ulmer married, at age 22, Pierce Albert Stabler, age 24, son of Abraham Stabler and Margaretha Anna Rhote, on Tuesday, 24 December 1895 at Quiggleville, Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Mary Elizabeth Ulmer died on 17 December 1958 at home of Bernard W. Bair, Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 85 years, 7 months and 12 days. She died after a long illness with cancer and also had a stroke to compund her illness. She died at the home of her daughter Margaret (Stabler) Bair near Cogan Station, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 She was buried on 20 December 1958 in the Salladasburg Cemetery, located in Salladasburg, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
     She worked as a maid at Calvert Funeral Home until married. She was also a member of St. John's Chapel Evangelical Church and sunday school teacher for many years. She was widowed at age 67 by the death of Pierce on 9 April 1941.1,2

This Bible originally belonged to Abraham Stabler (1845-1923) being handed down on his death to his son Pierce Albert Stabler (1871-1941) and remained in the Stabler household until his death. At this time his son Frederick Ulmer Stabler (1907-2005) owned the Bible until the time of his death at which time it passed to his son Daniel Leroy Stabler.
