I have just finished looking through your webpage on the Gooch family lines. It was wonderful to see so many Gooches in one place! I started my research in 1988, shortly after the death of my mother, who is really the one who started my interest many years before. I had one family group sheet with all kinds of blank spaces and I feared I would never fill any of them. However, thanks to the reasearch and making it available of generous people like you, I have been able to build quite a record. This computer has been a Godsend. I am a descendant of Nathan Gooch, son of William Gooch of Itawamba County, Mississippi. I noticed you didn't have much info listed for him, and I have inherited the family Bible with all the vitals in it. Nathan Gooch married Sarah Caroline Humphrey in Itawamba county,Ms, and interestingly enough, they moved to Texas later in their marriage, and both my mother and I were born and raised in good ole Big Spring, Howard, Texas. I miss Texas something awful! Nathan Gooch passed away in Brownwood or Eastland,TX, I'm not sure which, and my grandparents, Nettie Laura GOOCH and William Wells FISHER, were married in the Gooch home in 1891. Nathaniel Gooch moved to middle Tennessee about 1815. He bought land in Rutherford County.
He may have been a doctor, although no proof has been found. Both of his sons later became doctors.
