William Gooch (1795 - 1859)

It is believed that William Gooch was the father of William Martin Gooch.
William Gooch may have been born in some backwoods mountain region of Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, or South Carolina.
It appears that the James Gooch family moved to Williamson County, Tennessee around 1805, and lived there until 1810. They then left with plans to settle in Allen County, Kentucky. In 1812, they showed up living in Robertson County, Tennessee.
William Gooch probably went to South Carolina in the 1820's, as a young man, possibly with his brother, Tillman. Other members of the Gooch family may have accompanied them.
William Gooch married a woman named Sarah before 1824. The birth place of Sarah appears as South Carolina in later records. They had at least three children: William Martin, James and Rebecca. There is evidence that there were several other children. It is believed that William Martin, James and Rebecca were born somewhere in Tennessee.
William Gooch lived in South Carolina for several years, and he was a farmer.
William Gooch settled in northeastern Mississippi in the middle or late 1830's. This was during the time when that region was being opened for general settlement, as the Indians were being relocated to the Indian Territory, west of the Mississippi River. He homesteaded wilderness land in the backwoods, near the Tombigbee River, and cleared much of it for farming. It is believed that his brother, Tilman, settled there at about the same time, and lived on an adjacent farm.
In the 1850 census records, William's occupation is recorded as blacksmith.
It is believed that William Gooch lived the rest of his life there, and that he and his wife are buried there.

Wesley Gooch was attached as a son of William and Sarah Gooch based on notes of Elizabeth Jane Palmer. Not yet proven.

Susan was born September 21, 1953 in Roswell, New Mexico. Her father was a career Air Force man. While Susie was growing up, the family lived in New Mexico and Michigan, near the bases where her father was assigned. Her father retired from the Air Force when Susan was about 11 years old. The family moved to Texas, and took up residence in Houston. Susan spent the rest of her childhood years there.
Susan married a man named Perry in about about 1973. They separated in 1977, and were divorced in 1978. They had no children.
Susan married Gary Hicks in 1980. They had two daughters; Angela Kay and Patricia Ann (Pattie).
Susan died July 17, 1995, after a lengthy illness. She had been fighting cancer for over three years.

Reconstructed Military records indicate Thomas R. Burtis b. ca
1917 in TX lived in San Joaquin Co. CA when he enlisted 11 Mar. 1946. These
type records indicate to ME this was at least the 2nd enlistment for Burtis
as it shows him as a Master Sergeant so he probably enlisted in the Army
BEFORE outbreak of WW II or was drafted around 1940. The 1946 Enlistment is
for the Regular Army. This Military record shows Burtis is Divorced with
dependents.
Jenna Scott sent documents that indicated Thomas R. Burtis was a
Warrant Officer 1 in 1943 living in Alexandria or Pineville, LA with wife
Doris. This gives a clue about WW II when many enlisted were advanced to
Warrant or Officer status and given a choice when the war ended of taking a
discharge or reverting back to their permanent enlisted rank. Thomas Ray
Burtis probably took a discharge and shortly afterwards enlisted back into
the USA or USAAF with rank of Master Sgt.
The Jorns Tree also shows Thomas Ray Burtis had only one daughter
with Juanita Allen Phillips, Then two more children with his 2nd wife named
Doris Dunlap or Tucker? and his 3rd child being a son he named Thomas Ray
Burtis, Jr. b. 20 Dec. 1943 d. 3 Sep. 2000. Then Pansey Burtis was Thomas
Ray Burtis 3rd wife with they both living in Lubbock TX at time Junior died
3 Sep. 2000.
Thomas Ray Burtis was still living in Lubbock TX when his sister

1920 AKA Tommy. Killed as a soldier in 1944 during WW II. Ethel Juanita
Phlllips supposedly had 3 children by first husband? This is also wrong. She
