Wholewheat pie dough

 INGREDIENTS

 

1 heaping cup wholewheat flour

1 heaping cup all purpose flour

1 tbls brown sugar

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp baking powder

1 cup veg shortning (3 scoops)

1/2 - 3/4 cup water

 

 METHOD

 

mix dry ingredents in bowl, cut in shortening

add water mixing untill able to form ball

divide into 3 and roll out on floured board

makes 3 pie shells or 9 - 12 pasties or 36  filled rolls

or abt 50-60 tart shells

 

 

 

VEGGIE PASTIES

 INGREDIENTS

 

1/2 cup chopped onion

1/2 cup diced carrot

1/2 cup diced potato

1/2 cup diced turnip

1/2 cup protose or meat substitute (optional)

1 tbsp oil

2 tbsp water

1/2 cup peas

1 1/2 cups grated cheese

salt, pepper oregano, thyme

 

Wholewheat pastry

 

 

METHOD

 

heat oil in large skillet add first 5 ingredients and water

simmer untill almost cooked through, add remaining ingredents

cool. roll out pastry, cut int sauser sized rounds

place 1 scoop mixture on pastry, fold and seal

bake on glass baking pan at 375 for 25 - 30 min till l brown

 

Makes abt 10-12 pasties,  freezes well, just reheat.
