CAMPFIRE STEWS   (per person)

 

 

1 potato, sliced or diced          

1 carrot, sliced or diced           

1 onion, sliced or diced

1/4 green pepper, diced           

¼ cup fresh or frozen peas

½ tomato, sliced or diced

¼ cup1/2" chunks of cheese

2 large cabbage leaves 

Marmite, salt, pepper    to taste.

Butter or margarine                              

 

These can be prepared individually but it is much easer to prepare enough for all and

Then toss all in a bowl and put a cup or two of the mixed ingredients in each stew.

Place large outer cabbage leaf on top of  square of foil (shiny side up)

Fill leaf with mixed ingredients, add a knob of butter and seasoning to taste.

Cover with second leaf and wrap with foil sealing edges tightly.

Cook on the coals until tender, about ½ - ¾ hour         

They can also be baked in the oven.                 

                       

Hamburger, hotdog or meat substitute (“nuttena” ,proteena” ) may be added!
