Note: This is a preliminary webpage and will be upgraded in the coming months. As there is no Beauharnois County GenWeb site, I am putting this information on the neighboring Chateauguay County GenWeb site at this time. If and when a Beauharnois Co GenWeb site is created, it will be moved there at that time.
A listing of all known cemeteries in the old Beauharnois County in southwestern Quebec, Canada. This county was in place from 1855 until 1980 when it was replaced by the present system of MRCs (Municipalitié Regionale de Comté). Not to be confused with an earlier Beauharnois County in place from 1829 to 1840 that covered much of the southwest area of Quebec including the later Counties of Huntingdon, Chateauguay and Beauharnois.
In the fall of 2004, I photographed the four (4) protestant cemeteries in the old Beauharnois County. These are St-Edward's Presbyterian Cemetery, Trinity Anglican Cemetery, both in the Town of Beauharnois, Knox Presbyterian (now United) Cemetery at St-Louis de Gonzague and the Valleyfield Protestant Cemetery in downtown Valleyfield. The pictures have been edited and the inscription names indexed. Research with church records, newspapers, etc will proceed as time permits. Eventually the plan is to put the complete information up as on-line webpages and published as hardcopy books including CDRom disks of all the pictures. Meanwhile I have put a list of the names on the monuments in the 4 Protestant Cemeteries on-line. Check the cemetery index below for links.
If you have any information about these cemeteries that you feel would help family historians and should be added to this web page, please contact the webmaster.
