 Obviously Samuel died in 1849, otherwise his estate would not have been an issue if he were alive.
 Named by Samuel in his will are the following children:

JOHN SARRATT, Sr., his wife, his brother SAMUEL, sisters KIZZIE and MIRNA, his son SAMUEL and wife, SAMUEL's son HOLDMAN, and SAMUEL were all buried on the place he bought about half a mile from Broad River. Only one tombstone is found there, that of SAMUEL, JOHN'S son. It bears the following inscription: "Died June 27, 1851, aged 61 years."
There is a rock wall around the graves of the others not much decayed.

In the name of God Amen, I, Samuel SARRATT of Spartanburg District and State of South Carolina being well in health and of Sound and perfect mind and memory (blessed be God) do this Eighth day of May in the year of our Lord, One Thousand, Eight Hundred and Forty Six, make and publish this my Last Will and testament in manner an form following, that is to say, principally and first of all I give unto recommend my Soul unto the Hand of Almighty God who gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian burial. Nothing doubling but I shall at, the general resurrection receive the Same again by the Almighty Power of God. And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this world, I give, demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form Viz.
     Item 1st. I give and bequeath to my dearly beloved wife, Margaret SARRATT, all and singular all my Lands, messusages and tenements, by her to be possessed and enjoyed in any way she thinks proper to do during her natural life or widowhood �Also I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Margarett SARRATT all my personal Estate Viz.,
Negroes, and Stock of every king, also all my household and kitchen furniture. � to be by her used and disposed of as she thinks proper in the most economical and beneficial way for her assess Support and for the Support and Education of Such of our dear children as remains with her at my decease, all the above mentioned property both real and personal to be used and disposed of by her as above mentioned during her natural life or widowhood, And if he Said Margaret SARRATT should (after my demise) marry to another man, then in that case she is not to have, possess or enjoy any part or portions of my property, neither real nor personal , in case of her second marriage it extinguishes alher title or claim to any portion portion of the above mentioned property.
     Item 2nd. At the decease or marriage of my dear wife Margarett SARRATT, I give and bequeath the remainder of my property in manner and form as set forth in the following Items herein after mentioned (turn over) Underlined before signed.
     Item 3rd. At the decease or marriage of my wife, Margaret SARRATT I give and bequeath to my beloved sons
     Samuel SARRATT,
     Greenberry SARRATT and
     Tilman SARRATT,

 all and Singular, all my Lands and tenements to be equally divided among and between the above named Three boys by lot, and if the Land cannot be conveniently nor agreeably divided between, and among the Three above mentioned boys Viz. Samuel SARRATT, Greenberry SARRATT and Tilman SARRATT.
     Item 4th. As touching my personal estate Viz. Negroes, Stock of all kinds, House hold and kitchen furniture that is remaining at the decease or marriage of my wife, Margarett SARRATT, I give and bequeath to my dear children in manner and form herein after mentioned.
     Item 5th. I give and bequeath all my personal property Viz. Negroes, Stock, Household furniture, Etc. to be equally and properally divided, between and among:
     Synthar (Sarratt) WEBER,
     Margarett (Sarratt) PHILLIPS,
     Samuell SARRATT,
     Greenberry SARRATT and
     Tilman SARRATT,
by equal division or public Auction or otherwise.
     Item 6th. As for
     Assenthy (Sarratt) MORHAN,
     Polly (Sarratt) DEFFERAN,
     Holman SARRATT and
     John Quin SARRATT

 and their respective Heirs, is to have no share, part or lot in any of the above mentioned property at mine or my wife�s decease, because I have previously given them all I ever allowed, or intended them to have of my property either real or personal which the following account hereunto annexed will shew. And do hereby make and ordain my dearly beloved wife Margarett SARRATT the Sole Executrix of this my last Will and testament. And I do hereby entirely disallow, revoke, and disarmed all and every other Will and testament, legacies, bequest, and Executors by me in wise before named, Willed, and bequeathed nullifying this and no other to be my last Will and Testament, In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and year above written--

 CONFEDERATE NORTH CAROLINA TROOPS
 34th Regiment, North Carolina Infantry

     The 34th Infantry Regiment was assembled at High Point, North Carolina, in October, 1861. Its members were recruited in the counties of Ashe, Rutherford, Rowan, Lincoln, Cleveland, Mecklenburg, and Montgomery. After serving in the Department of North Carolina, it was sent to Virginia and placed in General Pender's and Scales' Brigade.
The 34th was active in the many campaigns of the CSA army from the "Seven Days Battles" to Cold Harbor and later participated in the Petersburg siege south of the James River, VA. and the operations around Lee surrendering CSA Army of Northern Virginia to USA Gen. Grant on Apr 9th, 1865 at Appomattox, VA.
It reported 53 killed and 158 wounded during the Seven Days' Battles, Malvern Hill, VA., [June 25, 1862]
2 killed and 23 wounded at Second Manassas, (a.k.a. 2nd Battle of Bull Run, VA.) [Aug 29, 1862]
2 killed and 17 wounded at Fredericksburg, VA. [Dec 12, 1862] and
18 killed, and 110 wounded, and 20 missing at Chancellorsville, VA. [May 1 to 6, 1863]
Of the 310 engaged at Gettysburg, VA. (followed by Retreat od CSA) twenty-one percent were disabled. It surrendered 21 officers and 145 men. [Jul 1 to 3, 1863]
The field officers were Colonels Collet Leventhorpe, William Lee J. Lowrance, and Richard H. Riddick; Lieutenant Colonels George T. Gordon, Charles J. Hammerskold, William A. Houck, John L. McDowell, and George M. Norment; and Majors George M. Clark, Joseph B. McGee, Eli H. Miller, William A. Owens, Martin Shoffner, and Francis L. Twitty.
