I knew Grandpa (Jesse SURRETT) always said his grandmother was Indian.
Well my sister Linda and I have been researching and have finally found her.
She (Sarah) was born abt 1849 in Cherokee Co NC and died in 1910 and she and
David Surrett are buried in Sandy Mush, NC. Her father is David/Davis
Hembree B1816 Spartanburg, SC and her mother is Adaline Miller B1813
Cocke Co TN. They are buried in Bollinger Co. MO 1885.
This may not help
any but we just couldn't figure out that last name Longenson. We enjoy
your site so much and I know you have spent so much time on researching
the family.
We also found out that David Hembree's mother and father
was Abraham and Winifred (Jackson) Hembree and they died near
Chattanooga at Ross's Landing in 1835 awaiting transport during the
early years of the Removal. (The trail of tears).
We have since I talked
to you found a lot more cousins and they live here in TN and also some
new found cousins in NC. This has been so exciting and we are enjoying
this so much. It has taken my sister and I almost a year to find Sarah's
family. WE appreciate your hard work and labor and will continue to keep
