A portion in the S. was added by the Gadsden Purchase in 1852 while still in NM. Territory. Some Census can be found for the 1850-60 In NM. Terr. 1812-19 when MO. first applied for Statehood The AR. Terr. included the Indian lands of OK. From 1822-48 it was owned by Mexico. San Francisco, Co., Santa Clara Co., & Contra Costra Co. 1850 Census are missing. --------------- ------ ------ ------ ------------------------ Colorado 1861 1876 1870 The area of present-day CO. included about 50 million acres previously assigned to UT. and KS. about 10 million to NM. Terr. The Terr. of Jefferson was voted by the residents in 1859, but was never recognized by U.S. Congress. --------------- ------ ------ ------ ------------------------ Connecticut 1788 1790 One of the original 13 states. 5th to ratify the Constitution. --------------- ------ ------ ------ ------------------------ Delaware 1787 1800 One of the original 13 states. 5th to ratify the Constitution. --------------- ------ ------ ------ ------------------------ District of 1790 1800 1820 Land area was taken from Columbia both VA. & MD. to form the District. --------------- ------ ------ ------ ------------------------ Florida 1822 1845 1830 FL. which early included parts of MS. & AL. had at various times belonged to Spain, Great Britain, was ceded to U.S. by Spain in 1819. Hernando Co., 1860 Census is missing. --------------- ------ ------ ------ ------------------------ Georgia 1788 1820 One of the original 13 states. 4th to ratify the Constitution. 1790 census as reconstructed; 1800 Census missing, except Oglethorpe Co.; 1810 Census All missing; 1820 Census missing Franklin, Rabun and Twiggs Counties. --------------- ------ ------ ------ ------------------------ Hawaii 1900 1959 Ruled by Native monarchs until 1893, was then a republic until 1858, then ceded itself to U.S. --------------- ------ ------ ------ ------------------------ Idaho 1863 1890 1870 Originally a part of the OR. Terr. 1848-53; Wash. Terr. 1853-63; became ID. Terr. in 1863 including small parts of Mont. & Wyo. Terr. 1800; thus remained until 1809; original IL. Purchase 1803; Was in MO. Terr. 1812-21; Un-organized Terr. 1821-34; Mich. Terr. 1834-36; Wisc. Terr. 1836-38. --------------- ------ ------ ------ ------------------------ Kansas 1854 1861 1860 KS. was part of the LA. Purchase 1803; Was in MO. Terr. 1812-21; Un-Organized Terr. 1821-54 (Indian) 1870 Census for Arapahoe Co., missing. --------------- ------ ------ ------ ------------------------ Kentucky 1792 1810 Early KY. area was considered part of Augusta Co., VA.; Later 1584 part of VA. Co.; Pre- settlement KY. called Fincastle Co. VA.; During time of early settlement it was called Kentucky Co., VA. (c1775-76) In 1776 it was divided into 3 Counties - Fayette, Jefferson and Lincoln Counties; It was further divided into 9 counties in 1790. Was also included in the "Transylvania" Purchase. No Census for 1790 & 1800, Tax list have been substituted. --------------- ------ ------ ------ ------------------------ Louisiana 1805 1812 1810 LA. was part of the LA. Purchase 1803. S. part of purchase lands became Orleans Terr. in 1804; LA. was the major portion of the Terr. 1810 Census missing St. Landry & W.
