W. K. Walton

William K. Walton, for many years a prominent citizen of Gallatin, died Thursday, March 28, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. Harry Merryday, at Daytona Beach, Florida. His death followed an illness of several months. Mr. Walton was a son of the late Capt. J. W. Walton. He was born in Alabama, but removed to this county in early life. He married Miss Mattie Hassell of this county, whose death occurred June 4th, 1928. Of this union two daughters survive as follows: Mrs. Lewis Payne of Knoxville and Mrs. Harry Merryday of Daytona Beach. Two brothers Wemyss Walton of Orlando, Florida, and Ed Walton of Rockdale, Tennessee, also survive. The remains will arrive at Gallatin today (Thursday) on the 12:18 p. m. train and burial at the Gallatin cemetery will follow immediately. Funeral services will be conducted at the grave by Rev. E. M. Steele.
