October 11, 1915

Odell Short, age 23 years, died last Monday night at 9 o'clock at the home of his mother, Mrs. Ann Short, one mile west of Portland, after a lingering illness of tuberculosis.  Funeral services were conducted at the residence Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock by Rev. Geo. B. Bush, Paster of the Baptist Church, in the presence of a large crowd of sorrowing relatives and friends, followed by interment in the family burying ground about three miles west of Portland.

Odell had been a member of the Baptist church a little more than a year and lived an exemplary Christian life.  He was well known and greatly beloved, his death is the source of genuine sorrow.

Besides his mother he is survived by three brothers and one sister, Messrs. Clarence and Cleon Short of Portland, Oscar Short of Nashville, and Mrs. Maude Chambers of near Portland.

The Herald joins the many friends of the grief stricken family in expressing to them heart-felt sorrow.
