Mrs. Julia Allen - Mrs. Julia Allen, age 86 years, died at 8 o'clock p.m., Monday, January 2nd, 1933, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert McComas, on South Water Street. Her death resulted from the infirmities of age. The deceased was born and reared in Monroe County, Kentucky,. In early life she married John Allen, who died a number of years ago. She is survived by two children, Mrs. Robert McComas of Gallatin and R. F. Allen of Comanche, Texas. Mrs. Allen was a devout member of the Church of Christ. A short funeral service was held at the residence on South Water Street at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning. Funeral services and burial at Burksville, Kentucky.
Elzy J. Wilson - Elzy J. "Bunt" Wilson died at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville Wednesday, December 28th, after undergoing an operation for appendicitis and suffering an illness of nine days. The deceased was the son of the late Cline Wilson and Mrs. Wilson and was born in this county. He had lived in this county practically all his life. He lived at South Tunnel. He was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Ramsey several years ago and to this union were born two children, Richard and Lois. They, with his wife, survive, as do, also, his mother and a sister, Mrs. C. F. Cron, and a brother, Arzo Wilson. The deceased died on the same day and about the same hour as did his sister, Mrs. Blance Ramsey. His body and that of Mrs. Ramsey were taken to the Ramsey home where funeral services for the two were held Thursday afternoon by Rev Fred Ray of Portland. Burial for both was at Old Brush Cemetery, near Fountain Head. (Abstract)
Thomas B. Franklin - Relatives here have received news of the death of Thomas Baber Franklin which occurred Tuesday, December 27th, 1932, at his home in Noble, a suburb of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The deceased was born and reared at Gallatin. He was a son of Dr. John Franklin and a brother of the late Mr. Ernest Franklin of Gallatin. He is survived by his wife and one son, Armfield Franklin, of Pittsburgh. There survive, also, two brothers and two sisters as follows: J. W. Franklin of Philadelphia, Rev. Hal Franklin of Chester, South Carolina, Mrs. R. S. Burwell of Davidson, North Carolina, and Miss Mable Franklin of Birmingham. The burial occurred at Noble on Friday.
Thomas W. Barnes - Thomas W. Barnes, prominent citizen of this county, died Sunday, January 1st, 1933, at his home in Gallatin. The deceased was born and reared at the old Barnes homestead near Cairo in the 2nd district. The date of his birth was November 14th, 1859. He was twice married, first to Miss Sally Bruce. Following her death he married Miss Emma Crutcher who survives him. There survive, also, two daughters, Mrs. Owen Donoho and Mrs. Jack Bradley of this county; three brothers and two sisters as follows: James and Charles Barnes of this county, S. K. Barnes of West Tennessee, Mrs. William Anglea of Gallatin and Mrs. Millard Terry of Bowling Green, Kentucky. Mr. Barnes was a faithful member of the Methodist Church. Funeral services were conducted at Cairo Methodist Church at 10:30 o'clock a.m. Monday. The burial took place at the family burying ground near Cairo. (Abstract)
In Memory - Mrs. Eunice Thornton Graves, wife of J. Leslie Graves, prominent citizen of the 12th civil district, died December 18th, 1932, at 3 p.m., at their home at Sugar Grove. Age 37 years. Mrs. Graves was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Thornton. She was born and reared in this neighborhood, in which she has many friends to mourn her loss. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Westmoreland, Tennessee. Mrs. Graves is survived by her husband, two small daughters, Francis Maxine Graves and Mildred Mae Graves; her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Thornton; one sister, Miss Teola Thornton, and one brother, Mr. Fount Thornton, of Nashville. A large number of relatives on both her father and mother's side also survive, her mother being a daughter of the late Jas. Reddick. (Abstract)

Gus Abraham - Gus Abraham, son of Mrs. Fannie Abraham of Gallatin, died at 8:45 o'clock a.m. Tuesday, January 10th, 1933, at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. The deceased was 50 years of age and was born and reared at Kosciusko, Mississippi. He was a son of Simon and Fannie Abraham, prominent residents of that city. He is survived by his mother and one sister, Mrs. Morris S. Wile, of Gallatin Funeral services were conducted at the Synagogue in Nashville at 2 o'clock p.m. yesterday. The remains were conveyed to Natchez, Mississippi where burial will take place in the Natchez Jewish Cemetery. (Abstract)
Mrs. Judith Deasey - Portland, Jan. 10. - Mrs. Judith Deasey, 89, widow of Charles Deasey, died at the home of Parnell Deasey, her grandson, Saturday afternoon in Portland. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Eddie Perdue and Mrs. Lou Dorris. Services were conducted Monday in the Baptist Church by the Rev. B. F. Collins, pastor. Burial was in Portland Cemetery.
Erle E. Sharp - Erle Ernest Sharp, prominent citizen of the fourth civil district, died at 12:25 o'clock p.m. Monday, January 9th, 1933, at his home near town on the Nashville Pike. The deceased was born November 26, 1878, at Sevierville, East Tennessee. He was the son of the late Dr. G. E. Sharp. Mr. Sharp moved to Sumner County in 1917. In early life he married Miss Mary Bruce McMahan of Sevierville. She died in this county in 1918. Some years after the death of his first wife, Mr. Sharp married Mrs. Amanda Oldham of this county. She survives him. There survive, also, three daughters of the first marriage as follows: Mrs. William Franklin and Mrs. Louis A. Green of this county and Mrs. Robert Franklin of Hope, Arkansas. Two brothers and one sister survive: Ray Sharp of Sevierville, J. W. Sharp and Miss Elizabeth Sharp of Seymour, East Tennessee. Also one-half brother and two half-sisters survive as follows: Dr. John Sharp of Memphis, Mrs. Lon Burchfield of Dandridge and Mrs. Clay Kyker of Knoxville. His stepmother, Mrs. Jennie Sharp, survives and resides at Seymour, East Tennessee. Funeral services were conducted at the residence at 2 o'clock p.m. Tuesday. The burial followed at the Gallatin Cemetery. (Abstract)
Miss Willie Howard - Miss Willie Howard, a well known graduate nurse of Nashville, died at her home, 800 Fatherland Street, Nashville, at an early hour Tuesday, January 10th, 1933. Miss Howard was born and reared in the 9th civil district of this county near Liberty. She was a daughter of William and Josephine Roscoe Howard, prominent citizens of that community. Surviving her are three sisters, Mrs. B. J. Wells of Nashville, Miss Floy Howard of Augusta, Ga., and Mrs. C. S. Carpenter of Alexandria, Va. Services were held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Church of Advent in Nashville. Burial occurred 3:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the family burying ground on the Green B. Harris place near Liberty in this county. (Abstract)
W. H. McKendree - W. H. McKendree, age 86, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fay Minor, near Portland, Friday, January 6th, 1933. His death resulted from the infirmities of age. The deceased was a great nephew and namesake of the distinguished Methodist Bishop McKendree of earlier years. Mr. McKendree is survived by two sisters, Mrs. John Kepley of this county, and Mrs. R. W. Karr of Mesa, Arizona, and one daughter, Mrs. Fay Minor. Also, four grandchildren of Portland. Interment was at Fairfield Cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. O. Estes of Portland, and Rev. Wm. H. Neal of Oak Grove.
Alex H. Escue - Word has reached here of the death of Alexander Hamilton Escue, age 68 years, formerly of Gallatin, which occurred at Stillwater, Oklahoma. Burial occurred at Davenport, Oklahoma, Tuesday. He had been a farmer near Gallatin until his retirement about ten years ago, when he moved to Oklahoma. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ella Craig Escue; two sons, Ralph C., and Francis A. Escue; three daughters, Misses Evelyn and Eleanor Martin Escue, and Mrs. F. A. Henry, Jr.; three sisters, Mrs. W. H. Baber, Mrs. D. D. Young, and Mrs. Will Young, and two brothers, Thomas and Leslie Escue. The deceased was a son of the late Mr. Frank Escue, prominent citizen of this county. (Abstract)
John Crowder - John Crowder died at 10 o'clock a.m. Sunday, January 8th, 1933, at his home at Brattontown, Macon County. The deceased was 57 years of age. He is survived by his wife and four children, one son and three daughters. The burial occurred Monday at Brattontown.
George C. Oldham Dies at McMinnville - McMinnville, Jan. 9. - George C. Oldham, 74, died at 6 o'clock Saturday morning at his home. Mr. Oldham was born and reared in Wilson County, but came to McMinnville about 30 years ago. Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at his home. He was buried in Mountain View Cemetery. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Etter Oldham; two sons, George C. Oldham, Jr., of Winchester and Cowan Oldham of McMinnville. Also he is survived by one brother, W. L. Oldham of Nashville, formerly of Gallatin. (Abstract)
W. A. McCanless - William Austin McCanless, aged 81 years, died at 1:20 o'clock a.m. Thursday, December 29th, 1932, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Miller McAfee, at Pulaski, Tenn. Funeral services were conducted at Friendship Methodist Church. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Miller McAfee of Pulaski, F. H. McCanless of Gallatin, E. E. McCanless of Columbia. Mrs. Oria G. Harper - After a brief illness Mrs. Oria G. Harper passed away Monday morning, January 9, 1933, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. G. Crews, on Anderson Street, Gallatin, at the advanced age of 84 years, 7 months and 12 days. Funeral services were conducted at the Gallatin Methodist Church at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning. Interment followed at the Gallatin Cemetery. Beside her daughter, Mrs. Crews, the deceased is survived by three grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Mattie Green, and a brother, Joe Crenshaw. (Abstract)

Mrs. Lydia Denning - Portland, Jan. 17. - Funeral services for Mrs. Lydia Denning, 81, will be held today by the Rev. E. D. Troutt at Fairfield Cemetery. Mrs. Denning died at her home at Brackentown, Monday. She is survived by her husband, William Denning, and five children, Prof. Vernon Denning of Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. Claude Baulch of Gallatin; J. B. Denning, Mrs. Jack Anglea, and Mrs. Brodie Anglea of Brackentown. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Mrs. Millie Duffer - After a brief illness, Mrs. Millie Duffer, wife of Robert Duffer, died last Wednesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Anderson, of Bethpage, at the advanced age of 79 years, 6 months, 14 days. Funeral services were conducted at the Bethpage Church Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock by Rev. Mr. Swiney. The burial followed at the Bethpage Cemetery. Surviving her are three children, Mrs. C. W. Hughes of Gallatin, Mrs. Walter Anderson and Russell Duffer of Bethpage. (Abstract)
Willie Morris - Portland, Jan. 12. - Willie Morris, 72, died at his home Wednesday at Halltown. He is survived by three sons and three daughters, John, Henry, and Jesse, Mary Cole, Nancy Roberts, and Ema Briley, all of Halltown. Burial was at Halltown Thursday with services conducted by the Rev. W. Hagan.

Mrs. Beulah Hardaway - Mrs. Beulah Hardaway died at 10 o'clock a.m., Monday, January 23rd, at her home at Cotton Town. Her death came suddenly Monday. The deceased was 50 years of age. She was the widow of Paris Hardaway, who died five years ago. Before her marriage she was Miss Beaulah Wise, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George W. Wise of the Number One Community. She is survived by two sons, Charles and Edward Hardaway. Also, four brothers and one sister, as follows: Marvin and Henry Wise of Nashville, Will Wise of Gallatin, Monroe Wise of Georgia, and Miss Mary Wise of Nashville. Funeral services occurred at the residence at 2 o'clock p.m., Tuesday. The burial followed at the Gallatin Cemetery. (Abstract)
Charles C. Bone - Charles Clark Bone, prominent citizen of the 9th civil district, died at 5 o'clock a.m. Monday, January 23rd, 1933. The deceased was born and reared near Kansas City, Missouri, and was 59 years of age. He was the son of William L. and Jane Clark Bone, the latter being a native of the Ocana community of this county. Charles Clark Bone became a citizen of Sumner County about 37 years ago. He married Miss Minnie Baker of the Liberty community. She survives him. There survive, also, three children, Mrs. William Lewis of Cincinnati, Edward Bone of Detroit and Billie Bone of this county. A brother and two sisters survive. They are as follows: Robert L. Bone and Miss Corinne Bone of Kansas City, and Mrs. M. B. Phelps of Gallatin. Mr. Bone was a member of the Methodist Church. Funeral services were conducted at the residence at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Burial followed at the Gallatin Cemetery. (Abstract)
Dick Rutledge - Dick Rutledge, former well known citizen of Gallatin, but for a number of years a resident of Nashville, died Wednesday, January 18th, 1933, at a Nashville hospital. The deceased was 59 years of age and was born and reared in Gallatin. He is survived by one brother and three sisters as follows: Basil Rutledge of Chicago, and Mrs. Mary Anderson, Mrs. D. L. Hughes and Mrs. E. B. Henley, all of Gallatin. The remains were brought to Gallatin and funeral services were conducted at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Hughes at 2 o'clock p.m. Thursday. Burial followed at the Gallatin Cemetery. (Abstract)
Mrs. Alice V. Perdue - Nashville, Jan. 20. - Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at Roesch-Johnson-Charlton Funeral Home for Mrs. Alice V. Perdue, age 74, who died Thursday morning in a local hospital following a year's illness. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Mrs. Perdue was born and reared near Fountain Head and resided in that community until coming to Nashville about 20 years ago. Surviving are a son, Bate Perdue of California; a sister, Mrs. Missouri Burney of White House, a niece, Mrs. Mollie Mackenzie of Nashville; and three nephews. (Abstract)
