Mrs. Clyde E. Daniels - Mrs. Agnes Daniels, wife of Clyde E. Daniels, died at 9 o'clock a.m. Wednesday, December 24th, at their home on Bledsoe Street, Gallatin. Her death followed a long illness. Mrs. Daniels was 34 years of age and was born and reared at Lynchburg, Tennessee. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Her husband and two children, a son age 10, and a daughter age 6 years, survive. Funeral services were conducted at the residence Thursday morning by Rev. H. L. Olmstead. The remains were conveyed to Lynchburg for burial.
W. D. Green - William D. Green 88 years of age and a former citizen of Sumner County died Saturday, December 27, 1930, at his home in Houston, Texas. He was twice married. His second wife survives. He is survived also by two daughters, Mrs. John L. Dyer of El Pasco, and Mrs. J. F. Primm of Waco, Texas. The remains were brought to Gallatin for burial, arriving here at 12:18 o'clock p.m., yesterday. Mr. Green removed to Texas about 35 years ago. Burial was at the Gallatin Cemetery. (Abstract)
Mrs. Charles Summers - Mrs. Hattie Summers, wife of Charles Summers, died Sunday, December 28th, 1930, at their home in Gallatin. She was 45 years of age and was a member of the Church of Christ. Her husband and four children, three boys and a girl, survive. Funeral services were conducted at the residence at 2 o'clock p.m., Tuesday by Rev. H. L. Olmstead. Burial followed at the Gallatin Cemetery.
Mrs. E. L. Broaddus Dies in China - Tom Neel of the Gallatin post office received a cablegram yesterday morning saying that his sister, Mrs. E. L. Broaddus, had died Tuesday night in Hong Kong, China. Details of her death were not given. The deceased formerly was Miss Margaret Neel of this county. Her husband is a missionary of the Church of Christ and they have resided in China for a number of years. She is survived by her husband and three small children. The youngest child is about one month old. She is survived, also, by her mother and brother who reside here. Relatives here have wired a request that the remains be brought to Gallatin for burial.
Johnny J. Jones - Showman is Dead - Nashville, Dec. 26. - Johnny J. Jones, owner and general manager of the shows of that name which for many years been a feature of the Tennessee State Fair, died suddenly at 2 o'clock Christmas morning at DeLand, Fla., where his shows are in winter quarters. He was born in Arnett, Pa., June 8, 1873. Mr. Jones was the son of a Welch coal miner and at an early age he left school to enter the mines. Besides his wife, Mr. Jones is survived by one small son, Johnny, Jr., and three sisters, Mrs. Grant B. Smith, Crooked Creek, Pa., Mrs. Nell Weckerly, DuBols, Pa., and Mrs. Elizabeth Mead, Wilmingsport, Pa. (Abstract)
Thomas Stokely Vinson - Passes To The Unknown - Another old Confederate soldier has fought the last fight and passed to the great unknown on Tuesday, December 9th, 1930. Thomas Stokely Vinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lorenso Dow Vinson (long since deceased) was born near Gallatin, Tenn., September 1, 1843. When quite young at the death of his mother he came to southern Louisiana with his father and grandfather, Stokely Vinson, youngest son of Capt. James Vinson of Revolutionary fame. His grandmother was Miss Sarah Fleetwood of North Carolina. The family lived on South Bend plantation in St. Mary's parish near Centerville, Louisiana. When the Federal army was finally driven out of South Louisiana the family moved to Texas, a distance of 350 miles, taking their slaves and household goods. The trip took more than three weeks. In the spring of 1871 he went to Tennessee, married and came back with his bride to live at Centerville. When yellow fever broke out in 1880 they went back to Tennessee. (Abstract)

Miss Fannie Patterson - Miss Fannie Patterson died at 1:30 o'clock a.m. yesterday at the family residence on the Hartsville Pike. The deceased had been since childhood a devout member of the Methodist Church. The following brothers and sisters survive: Alex and Pat Patterson of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and John, James T. and Clen Patterson and a sister, Mrs. Mack Gray, of Gallatin. There survive, also, a half brother, Dr. Rucker Patterson and a half sister, Mrs. Ralston Woodward, both of Gallatin. Funeral services will be conducted at the residence at 2 o'clock p.m. today (Thursday) by Rev. J. T. Parsons, pastor of the Gallatin Methodist Church. The burial will follow at the Gallatin Cemetery. Mrs. George E. Seay - Dies In Dallas - Nashville, Jan. 5. - Mrs. George E. Seay, 85, mother of Ed T. Seay, prominent Nashville attorney, died Saturday night at 11:30 o'clock at her home in Dallas, Texas, following an attack of pneumonia. Mrs. Seay was the wife of the late Judge George Seay, who was for many years a citizen of Gallatin before his removal to Texas. Mrs. Seay was born at Hartsville, and following her marriage to Judge Seay resided in Gallatin until the family removed to Texas. Mrs. Seay is survived by the following children: Ed Seay, of Nashville, Harry L. Seay, Dr. Dero E. Seay, Mrs. John O. McReynolds, and Mrs. Clara S. Wheat, of Dallas, and Mrs. Odell W. McConnell of Los Angeles, California. (Abstract)
Portland - John Hodges, age 84 years, died Sunday and was buried Monday at Pleasant Hill Church. He lived at Sulphuria nearly all of his life. He is survived by four son and one daughter.

William Henry Butler Satterwhite, prominent citizen of Sumner County and former Confederate Soldier, died at 6:30 o'clock p.m. Monday, January 12, 1931, at his home, "Craigfont," on the Hartsville Pike. He had been ill for several months and his death resulted from the infirmities of old age. The deceased was born December 15, 1845, in North Carolina in Granville County at the village of Satterwhite near Oxford. He was the youngest son of J. M. and Martha Bass Satterwhite. Following the Civil War he lived in Nashville for a while and then came to Sumner County where he had resided for more than forty years. He married Miss Micha Ellen Duffy of this county, who died on October 14, 1925. Of this union two children survive as follows: Miss Nellie Satterwhite and James Satterwhite. Funeral services were conducted at the residence at 1 o'clock p.m. yesterday by Rev. L. S. Sedberry, pastor of the Gallatin Baptist Church. The burial was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Nashville. Ira Miller Collier - Ira Miller Collier, son of Mr. and Mrs. I. T. Collier, formerly of Liberty community, Red River Road, but now of Hutton Valley, Missouri, died January 5th, 1931, after an illness of several months. The deceased was born in Sumner County September 4th, 1903, and moved with his parents to Missouri in 1920. He was christened as an infant by his uncle, the late Rev. J. W. Rooker, of this county. He was a member of the Methodist Church at the time of his death. He is survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. I. T. Collier of Hutton Valley, Mo., three brothers, Willard Collier of Hutton Valley, Mo., T. V. and E. W. Collier of this place; two sisters, Mrs. L. T. Hoffman and Mrs. Lizzie Roscoe of Nashville; also several other relatives near this place. Interment was at Hutton Valley, Missouri. (Abstract)
Mrs. Margie Rhoades - In memory of Mrs. Margie Rhoades, widow of the late David C. Rhoades, who died at her home near Pleasant Grove Saturday, December 13th, 1930. She was about 67 years of age and is survived by three sons, Odell, Omer, and Odo Rhoades, and by two step sons, Olin and Owen Rhoades, all of this community. Her husband died about three years ago. Almon Meadors - Portland, Jan. 12. - Admon Meadors, 71, died at his home here Saturday morning. Funeral services Sunday morning at the Portland Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Kary Rippy. He is survived by his wife, three sons and four daughters. He was born and reared in Sumner County. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Mrs. Ethel McMath - Mrs. Ethel McMath of Texas was killed January 4th, 1931, in an automobile accident near Beaumont, Texas. The deceased and her husband were driving in an automobile when the car collided with a wagon loaded with poles, resulting in her death. Mrs. McMath was born in Gallatin on February 11th, 1902. Before her marriage she was Miss Ethel Pruitt. She was a member of the Baptist Church. The remains were brought to Gallatin for burial. Funeral services were conducted at the Alexander Funeral Parlor at 2 o'clock p.m. Thursday by Rev. L. S. Sedberry. Burial followed at the Gallatin Cemetery.

James R. Callan - James R. Callan of Knoxville died December 31st, 1930, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore following a lingering illness. The burial took place at Knoxville Friday, January 2nd, 1931. His remains were accompanied to Knoxville by his brother, Paul Callan, of Richmond, his cousin, Judge Jas. R. Cadden, of Baltimore, and his brother-in-law, Colonel Charles B. Rogan, now on the staff of the Federal Farm Board, Washington, D.C. Mr. Callan, who was a bachelor, is survived by the following brothers and sisters: General R. E. Callan, U. S. Army, Paul Callan, Richmond, Va., Mrs. Chas. B. Rogan, Gallatin, Tenn., Mrs. Wm. T. Claiborne, Knoxville; Mrs. Ernest E. Norris, St. Louis and Nadine Louise Callan, Convent of the Sacred Heart, St. Charles, Missouri. Mr. Callan was buried from the home of his sister, Mrs. Claiborne with funeral services at the Catholic Church.
Mrs. Susan J. Soper - Mrs. Susan J. Soper, eighty four, widow of John W. Soper, Confederate veteran, died Thursday, January 15, 1931, at 2 a.m. at a Nashville infirmary. Funeral services were conducted Friday at 10 a.m. from the chapel of M. S. Combs & Co., at Nashville. Burial was in the Gallatin Cemetery at noon Friday with services conducted by Rev. Charles S. Ramsey, pastor of the Gallatin Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Soper was born in Wilson County, the daughter of the late Alfred and Elizabeth Turner. When a young lady she married Mr. Soper and moved with him to Sumner County, making their home at Shackle Island, near Hendersonville. Mr. Soper died thirty-nine years ago. For the past twenty-seven years, Mrs. Soper had lived in Nashville. She is survived by one son, E. T. Soper of Belleforche, S. D.; a brother, W. G. Turner of Fort Worth, Texas; and two sisters, Mrs. A. D. Sheegog of Nashville, and Mrs. Ella Anderson of Fort Worth. (Abstract)
Mrs. Ella May Seay - Mrs. Ella May Seay, widow of the late Mr. Ben Seay, and highly esteemed lady, died at 10:30 o'clock p.m., Sunday, January 18th, 1931, at her home on East Main Street. Mrs. Seay was born at Culpepper, Virginia, on June 1st, 1855, the daughter of John A. and Charlotte Shackleford. She was married to Mr. Seay at Hartsville, Tenn. in October, 1875. Of this union five children survive as follows: Frank Seay and Misses Mary, Augusta, Nannie Bell and Virginia Seay, and two stepchildren, George Seay and Mrs. W. T. Gilliam, all of Gallatin. She is survived also by one sister, Mrs. Fannie Embrey, of Culpepper, Virginia. Her husband died at their home in Gallatin thirteen years ago. Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist Church at 10 o'clock a.m., Tuesday. Burial followed at the Gallatin Cemetery. (Abstract)
Mrs. Mary E. Caraway - The death angel has again visited the Laguardo community, bearing away another of the landmarks, of which so many are passing ashore. On Monday night, January 12, 1931, near the hour of ten, the soul of Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Graves, widow of Mr. Phillip Marion Caraway, winged its flight to God who gave it. Mrs. Caraway was born November 9, 1854. Age 76 years, two months, and three days. She was married to Phillip Marion Caraway on November 26, 1874, who departed this life October 13, 1929. To this union two children were born. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. J. E. Sanders and Miss Nora Caraway, and one foster son, James Barlow. At Mrs. Caraway's request the funeral was held at her home. The services were short but impressive. She was laid to rest beside her husband in the family cemetery, January 14th, at 2:30 o'clock, to await the final resurrection. (Abstract)
In Memoriam - The death angel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Jackson of near White House and claimed as its victim their daughter, Lida C. Jackson, who was born September 30th, 1907 and died January 12th, 1931. She is survived by her mother and father, two brothers and two sisters and a host of relatives and friends who mourn her death. Funeral services were conducted at the White House Christian Church. She was laid to rest in the White House Cemetery. (Abstract)

John M. McMurrey - John Morgan McMurrey, colored, age 16 years, died Monday night at his home on East Smith Street in Gallatin. He was a son of Johnnie McMurrey, who lives now in Indianapolis. Funeral services were conducted at the home at 2 o'clock p.m. yesterday. Burial followed at the Gallatin Cemetery. (Abstract)
Death Claims E. Franklin - Ernest Franklin (paper torn), died yesterday at his apartment in Hillcrest on ? Main Street. He was 76 years old. The deceased was a son of the late Dr. John Franklin and was born and reared at the old Franklin homestead on the Nashville Pike. His entire life had been spent in this county. On September 22nd, 1880, Mr. Franklin married Miss Georgia Brown of this county, who survives him. Of this union four children survive as follows: John T. Franklin of Gallatin; Ernest Baber Franklin of Nashville; Mrs. S. W. Williams of Batesville, Ark.; and Mrs. T. R. L. Carter now living in the Isle of Pines where her husband is teaching. Also three brothers and two sisters: J. W. and Thomas B. Franklin of Pa.; Rev. Hal Franklin of Ridgeway, South Carolina; Miss Mable Franklin of Birmingham and Mrs. Burwell of North Carolina. Funeral services will be held at the Gallatin Presbyterian Church at 2 o'clock p.m. today (Thursday). Burial will follow at the Gallatin Cemetery (Abstract)
