Jacob Taylor McMurtry, 96, of Goodlettsville, died Friday evening, April
1st at Madison Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon by Rev. W. K. Cook and Rev.
Courtney Wilson, at the Cole and Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Rosa Dorris McMurtry of Goodlettsville; daughters,
Mrs. H. Dennis Carter, Springfield, Mrs. W. L. Cunningham, Chattanooga, Mrs.
Claude B. Garrison, Goodlettsville, Mrs. Robert Pickle, Waukegan, Illinois;
brother W. Jefferson McMurtry, Nashville; sister, Mrs. Eva Vaughn, Nashville;
ten grandchildren, eleven great grand-children.
Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of the New Hope Baptist Church.
Active pallbearers were Ray Carter, Harry Carter, Paul Garrison, Bill
Cunningham, Mac Cunningham, Bill Mitchem, Carrol Gowens, Bill Carlisle, Jr.,
Richard Binkley, Gary Severtson, Beech Lodge No. 240 F & A.M. were in
charge of services at the grave. Interment was in Forrest Lawn
Cemetery.
*Jacob Taylor McMurtry was the son of Daniel J. McMurtry and Sarah J. Honeycutt. Daniel and Sarah were married 13 November 1865 - (Sumner County Marriage Index).
