Portland Tenn., Oct 21 (Spl.) George Washington Gregory 75, prominent farmer of the Portland district in Sumner County, Tennessee, died unexpectedly at his home near here Friday night. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Mt. Pleasant General Baptist Church, near his home, conducted by Dr. W. A. Meador, pastor of the First Emmanuel Church of Christ at Nashville, Tennessee, of which he was a member. He leaves a wife Mrs. Josephine Fuller Gregory; six children, and six brothers as follows: Walter C. Gregory and Elder Robert L. Gregory of Portland, Mrs. James Hatler, Mrs. Sam Harper, Mrs. W. A. Meader and Mrs. W. M. Beatty, Nashville, Jack Gregory, Haywood Gregory and Carr Gregory, Gallatin, James Gregory and Ollie Gregory Portland, and Benjamin Gregory, Nashville. His daughter Mrs. W. A. Meador, is the widely known evangelist and leader of the Emmanuel Churches in Christ.
