SUMNER WOMAN KILLED BY AUTO

Mrs. Elliott Greer Fatally Hurt Near Home; Driver Held for Murder

Portland, Tenn. Oct 31

Mrs. Elliott Greer was instantly killed this afternoon when she was struck by an automobile as she was walking along a road near her home in Sumner County's Fifteenth District. The accident occurred near Pleasant Valley Church.

Ivan Freeman, 21 of Sumner County was arrested by Sheriff Kelly Rippy as the driver of the automobile. The sheriff said Freeman would face a charge of murder with an automobile. The man was released on $5,000 bond.

Mrs. Greer suffered a broken neck. She was reported to have been overtaken by the automobile that struck her as he was meeting an automobile. Surviving are her husband and five children. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the White House Methodist Church.
