*(Milford Press, March 13, 1942 - Former Milford Couple Celebrates 60th Anniversary - Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. Durham - The sixtieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. Durham, residents of Dallas 12 years, was observed Sunday at their residence, 3031 South Marsalis. They were married in Bethpage, Tenn. Mr. Durham, 82, is a native of Tennessee, Mrs. Durham, 78, a native of Illinois. They moved to Milford, Ellis County, in 1884 where they lived for more than thirty-five years, later moving to Dallas. Their two children, Miss Annie Dell Durham and Thomas G. Durham, live in Dallas. The couple have a multitude of friends in this community who congratulate them on their sixtieth anniversary and wish them many others.)

Annie Dell Durham, Dallas educator, dies - Miss Annie Dell Durham, a long time Dallas teacher, 5323 Lake Placid, died Thursday at Methodist Hospital. Funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Monday at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel, with burial in Restland Memorial Park. A teacher with the Milford public school system three years, she taught at Texas Presbyterian College 10 years. In 1925, Miss Durham received her Permanent Certificate, it allowed her to teach primary through college level courses. With DISD 33 years, she taught at Trinity Heights Elementary School eight years until 1933. The remainder of her teaching career was spent at Boude Storey Junior High School. Miss Durham retired in 1958 after 48 years of service as an educator. A Charter member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, she was also a member of National Retired Teachers Association, Texas State Teachers Association and Dallas Retired Teachers Association. Receiving her bachelor of science degree from Texas Presbyterian College, she received a bachelor of arts degree from Austin College in Sherman in 1921 and a masters degree from the University of Colorado in 1932. Born in Bethpage, Tenn., she was a Texas resident since 1894. Miss Durham moved to Dallas in 1925. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Thomas G. Durham - Funeral services for Thomas G. Durham, of 5323 Lake Placid Drive, a pharmacist for 41 years before he retired in 1957, will be held at 2:30 p. m. Monday in Restland Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park. He died here Friday. A native of Hendersonville, Tenn., Durham had lived in Dallas for 42 years. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was graduated from the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston.

Mrs. L. E. Martin *(Martha Sue "Mattie Durham Martin) Dies in Louisiana Lone Oak - Mrs. L. E. Martin, 84, former resident of Lone Oak, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. L. Flake in Minden, LA., at 7:30 Thursday morning. Elliott Funeral Home will return the body to Lone Oak and funeral services will be conducted in Hillsboro with final arrangements pending. L. E. Martin 79, died at 10 o'clock Saturday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. L. Flake, in Lone Oak, where he had been residing for the past three years. The body was taken to Milford, Ellis County, today by Elliott Funeral Home and funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock this afternoon in that city. Interment will be in Hillsboro. Pallbearers will be: Mr. Sheffield, J. H. Lay, Marshall Coats. A. E. Galbraith, Weldon Miller, and Henry Ault. Mr. Martin was born on October 9, 1866 in Sumner County, Tenn. He was married to Miss Mattie S. Durham on December 31, 1894 and to this union one child was born. He moved to Milford, Texas, in 1901 and resided there until 1943 when he came to Hunt County to reside with his daughter in Lone Oak. He had been a member of the Methodist church since 1906. Surviving are his widow, one daughter, Mrs. W. L. Flakes; one granddaughter, Miss Katie Sue Flake; and one grandson, Lee Flake, all of Lone Oak; one sister, Mrs. William Groves, Gallatin, Tenn., and one brother, J. R. Martin, Charlotte, NC.
Sumner County, Saturday April 22, 1905 - Death of Johnathan Durham.
Johnathan Durham, highly respected and one of the oldest citizens of the Bethpage section of the county, died Wednesday night at the residence of his son, J. Morgan Durham, after a short illness. Mr. Durham had been sick with lagrippe, but on Saturday pneumonia developed and he sank rapidly. The deceased was born in this county in 1822, and was 83 years old at the time of his death. He was married in 1845 to Elizabeth Senter, of which union three children survive, they being J. Morgan Durham and Mrs. J. W. Morgan of Bethpage, and J. T. Durham of New Roe, Ky. The deceased had been a member of the Methodist Church for fifty years, his membership being with the church at Bethpage. The interment was at Bethpage Thursday.
