Mr. J. Wallace Butt, died suddenly of heart trouble at his home in East Portland early in the morning of Dec. 27th (1925). Funeral services were conducted at the home the following day by Rev. Hill. Interment at Portland Cemetery. Mr. Butt was widely known throughout this section, having been in the log and lumber busienss for many years. His untimely death was a great shock to his host of friends.
Note from submitter: Wallace Butt was born 29 July 1865. He married Mary Alice Smart on January 3, 1894 in Sumner County, TN. His name is listed as Joseph Wallis Butt on his tombstone in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
