Sumner County        }  May Term 1829  Richard Johnson this day 15th of May 1829 personally appeared in open Court and makes oath that he lived in Virginia and not more than one & half miles from the applicant Samuel Higgason for a number of years and that he enlisted at the same time in the regular service that Samuel Higgason did & served for the same period of time thirteen months in the revolutionary war & that they both enlisted the service about twelve months before the end of the war & that he has known him ever since & that he knows him to be the same man who appears now to the governor for a pension.
