The description of Pioneer Cemetery and the listings of the tombstones found there was very graciously sent to me by Ann Bonnell. All thank you's should be directed to her at her email address. She took the time to put this all together, and is allowing her work to be accessed on the site. Please DO drop her a line if you find this list useful in your research. I'd appreciate a note in my guestbook -- just makes me feel good to provide the space to get this wonderful piece out!
If you have a connection to anyone on this list please email Ann at the mail link below, or email her at [email protected] to see if you are related.

On a beautiful sunny day on September 4, 1994 while on holiday in Prince Edward Island, I rented a lobster boat in Wood Islands and travelled to Pictou Island for the day. One branch of my MacDonald tree had left Little Sands, Prince Edward Island and settled in Pictou Island.
The Island itself is quite small. There is a ferry service which runs several times a week between Pictou Island and Pictou. Pictou Island has one road (unpaved) on it which runs the length of the Island. There are homes scattered here and there along the length of it. There is still a good deal of the Island that remains wooded and undeveloped.
The Pictou Island Pioneer Cemetery is set back off the road. One must walk through a wooded trail to access the graveyard. The cemetery is well kept and although some stones were difficult to read, my efforts are recorded below.
