This Civil War page is dedicated to my Missouri great-great-grandfathers

Theodore ST. ONGE
(aka, Theodule MARCOUX dit ST. ONGE)
Aug 14, 1836 - Apr 19, 1919
Julius Valentine PAUBEL
Sep 1, 1838 - Nov 29, 1919

My great great grandfathers fought in the Union Army with their neighbors and friends. The information I have listed here about their service came mostly from their pension files. I ordered their pension files through the National Archives in Washington, D.C. and received information on their units from the Missouri State Archives in Jefferson City, Missouri.

The following tables show information from pages of documents that I received from the Missouri State Archives on these two units. I hope that you may find your ancestor on these pages. I would like to keep adding information to this page so that we can eventually get a complete listing of the men and a history of these Missouri units. If you have any information that you would like posted for these units, please let me know. Send an email with the information to me at pfrazer@sbcglobal.net. Please keep checking back as I am still adding information. There was about 200 pages to Julius V. PAUBEL's Civil War pension file!

REMARKS: This information is from just one page of entries for this unit. Also on these sheets is the following information: rank, physical description, and marital status. All were enlisted by Capt. SIKEMEYER and were residents of St. Louis, Missouri, at time of enlistment. In order to keep this format readable, I only listed key information for identification. I have used the spelling that is on the sheet, but the copies are very light.

If you would like further information, please contact me at pfrazer@sbcglobal.net.

REMARKS: This information is from just one page of entries for this unit. Also on these sheets is the following information: rank, physical description, and marital status. All were enlisted by Lt. V. CALLOCK(?). The information in Julius V. PAUBEL's Civil War Pension file states that he was discharged at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, on April 18, 1866. In order to keep this format readable, I only listed key information for identification. I have used the spellings that are on the sheets, but the copies are very light.

The last few entries on the page are not on the Descriptive Roll sheet, but the names were mentioned in J.V. PAUBEL's pension file as having served with him.

*This column represents (with a yes or no answer) whether the named person served in the unit with Theodore ST. ONGE.
REMARKS: Unless otherwise noted, all persons are located and events took place in the County of St. Louis and the State of Missouri. The event(s) described are regarding Theodore ST. ONGE's service as a Corporal in Co. D, of the 2nd Missouri Regiment, Light Artillery. These statements are regarding an event that took place during the Civil War on or about April 15, 1864, in Duvalls Bluff, Arkansas. The events that occurred between that date and July of 1864, are the reason for my great great grandfather's application for disability pension.
