Settlement Papers for Benjamin Garland & Family, dated 19 April 1759 To the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Landlivery in the County aforesaid and to each and every of you to Remove and to convey As also to the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Luxillion in the County of Cornwall These. WHEREAS Complaint has been made by you the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Landlivery aforesaid, unto Us whose Hands and Seals are hereunto set, Two of His Majesty�s Justices of the Peace (One being of the Quorum) for the said County of Cornwall That Benjamin Garland Mary his Wife Daniel aged ten years James aged seven years Richard aged two years Mary aged thirteen years and Elizabeth aged four years Sons and Daughters of the said Mary and Benjamin Garland lately intruded themselves into your said Parish of Landlivery there to inhabit as Parishioners contrary to the Laws relating to the Settlement of the Poor, and are likely to become Chargeable there: And whereas upon due Examination and Enquiry made into the premises by Us the said Justices, and on the Oath of the said Benjamin Garland it appears unto us, and we accordingly adjudge, that the said Benjm Garland Mary his Wife Daniel James and Richard their Sons and Mary and Elizabeth their Daughters are likely to become Chargeable and that their last legal place of Settlement was in the said Parish of Luxillion where they ought to be Removed, as the Law in that Case directs. THESE are therefore, in His Majesty�s Name, to Order and Require you the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Landlivery aforesaid, That you, or some of you, do Forthwith Remove and Convey the said Benjm Garland Mary his Wife Daniel James and Richard their Sons and Mary and Elizabeth their Daughters from your said Parish of Landlivery to the Parish of Luxillion aforesaid, and them deliver to the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor there, or some one of them together with this our Order or a true Copy hereof; whereby they are likewise Required, in His Majesty�s Name, and by Virtue of the Statutes in such Case made, Forthwith to Receive the said Benjm Garland Mary his Wife Daniel James and Richard their Sons and Mary and Elizabeth their Daughters into your said Parish of Luxillion and provide for them as their own Parishioners according to Law.
