Barbara Jean Pavey, 64, of Odessa, a retired employee of the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Elizabeth Coffee Baker Pavey 98, a long time Houstonian, born on October 14, 1905 in Columbus, TX, passed away on September 14, 2004.
Elizabeth was a private speech and piano teacher in Alexandria, Louisiana, where she grew up and in Houston after her marriage. She attended Kidd-Key College in Sherman, TX. She was very active at North Side Methodist Church and at Bering Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was head of the primary department, president of her circle several times, President of the WSCS and a long time member of the Board of Stewards and the Heritage Committee. She was active in the Delphian Assembly and a member of the Delphian Past Presidents' Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eva and Drew Baker, and her beloved husband and son, Albert E. Pavey Sr. and Albert E. Pavey Jr. Elizabeth is survived by her two children and their spouses, Eugene B. and Jane Pavey and Elizabeth and Arlee Leifeste; her six grandchildren, Steve and Kathleen Pavey , Stan and Jodie Pavey, Ellen Jackson, Edward and Karla Pavey, Elaine and Charles Russell and Karl Leifeste; and her ten great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 pm until 7 pm on Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at The Settegast- Kopf Co. Funeral Directors, 3320 Kirby Drive. A private graveside service will be held at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery with Mrs. Fannie N. Parker, officiating.

TSgt. George R. Peavy, 71, of Port Lavaca died Tuesday, August 30, 2011. He was born September 12, 1939 in Jacksonville, FL to the late George L. Peavy and Evelyn Walters Peavy.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1977 and was a Local Mechanic for the last 20 years. Services will be held out of state at a later date.

Fronie (Pavey) Grider, 99, of San Bernardino, Calif., died on March 6, 1987.
Services took place on March 9 at Babbitt Memorial Chapel in San Bernardino.
Mrs. Grider was born on April 20, 1887. She and John Grider were married in Llano TX; he preceded her in death.
Survivors are two sons, June Grider of Llano and Clifford Grider of
California; two sisters, Donie Long of Llano and Dovie McFadden of
Williamson County; one brother, Dewey PAVEY of Valley Spring, and numerous grandchildren and
great grandchildren.

Howard Davis Peavy, 83, died at 4:30 a.m., Feb 14, 1981 at Park Hospital in Port Arthur. He was born in Revere, Mass.
He was a retired school teacher having taught at Tarleton College in
Stephenville, Texas; in the Houston schools and in the South Park schools. He taught and organized the first driver education classes in the South Park School District. Mr. Peavy was the founder of the Teachers Credit Union of Beaumont and was active in its business until the last year.
He was an army veteran -- a member of the Veterans of World War I of the U. S. A.
Mr. Peavy was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Rev. S. Burton Smith, Pastor of St. Paul's officiated at funeral services on Tuesday, Feb 17, 1981 at 3:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont, Texas.
Burial followed in Memory Gardens of Nederland, Texas.

Born April 9, 1905 in Gibsland, LA, Mrs. Pavey passed away Saturday, July 10,
1999 at her home in Tyler, Texas after a brief illness.
Mrs. Pavey was a
former long-time resident of Shreveport having moved to Tyler in February of
1998.
She moved to Shreveport in 1925 to enter Nursing School on the recommendation
of their family Physician, Dr. Wade. She attended the old Schumpert Sanitarium
graduating as an R.N. in June of 1928.
Mrs. Pavey was a former member of Cedar Grove Methodist Church where she was
active in the Women's Society of Christian Services and was a delegate to the
Louisiana Methodist Conference on several occasions.
As an active member of Summer Grove United Methodist Church, she served on the
Parsonage Committee and the United Methodist Women.
In January 1999, she was awarded a permanent Honorary Membership on the Summer
Grove United Methodist Church's Administrative Board in recognition of the
many years of her work in the church.
Mrs. Pavey was pre-deceased by parents, M. W. Moncriet and Annie Shaffer
Moncrief; her husband of 38 years, Francis Nathan Pavey, Jr.; infant daughter,
Annie Lee Pavey; two brothers, Emery and Edwim Moncrief; sister, Nora
Moncrief Edmiston and infant granddaughter, Vicki Lynn Turner.
She is survived by three children, Ruby Pavey Holland and husband, Claude, Jr.
of Tyler, Texas; Francis Nathan Pavey, III and wife, Pat, and Gwen Pavey
Turner of Shreveport; 11 grandchildren, Dale Holland (Brenda), David
Holland, Claude Holland, III (Mary Ellen), Tim Holland (Pat), Cindy Pavey
Pittman (Robert), Rebecca Pavey Hardin, Robin Pavey Miller (Casey), Charles
Burroughs (Lisa), Karen Burroughs, Rhonda Turner Hereford (Lou) and Rachel
Turner Wagner; 17 great grandchildren; one expected great grandchild; and two
expected great-great grandchildren; four brothers, Halbert Moncrief (Dovie) of
Brookhaven, MS; Carl Moncrief of Gibsiand, LA; Euell Moncrief (Mable) of
Madison, MS and Orland Moncrief (Virginia) of Shreveport; numerous nieces and
nephews, additional family members and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Dale, David, Claude and Tim Holland, Lou
Hereford and Greg Wagner.
Honorary pallbearers are Charles Burroughs, Robert Pittman, Casey Miller and
Charles Lyons.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Tyler and express their appreciation
to the Joy Class of Greenacres Baptist Church, Tyler, TX, and to her many friends and fellow worshippers at Summer Grove United Methodist Church in Shreveport for their prayers and support. Gratitude to Sonja Bracey, Ann McElwee and Inez Johniken of Hair Attraction. A Special thanks to Dr. Svetisla Vukelia and Staff at the Tyler Cancer Center.

Leona Inez Pavey, age 88, passed away on December 7, 2011, at Park Manor in the Woodlands, Texas. Born on January 21, 1923 in Hammond, Indiana, she was the daughter of Ona Mae and Jacob Darrell Woolsey.
Leona married Howard Wesley Pavey on October 27, 1938, in Bedford, Indiana. They were married 67 years, before her beloved husband preceded her in death on December 18, 2005. Surviving Leona is her daughter Jeanne Slaymaker and son-in-law Jay Slaymaker, her granddaughter Jennifer Edmoundson and her husband Terry Edmoundson and great-granddaughter Brittany Edmoundson. She is also survived by her grandson Dwayne Wesley Miles and his wife Joanne, two great-grandsons Mark Miles and Joshua Miles and numerous nieces and nephews. Leona is survived by her brother Cecil Woolsey and was preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers.
Private graveside services were held at Forest Park Cemetery in the Woodlands.

Patricia Ann Pavey (Pat) died on Thursday, Jan. 13, in Grand Prairie, Texas. She was born June 20, 1938 in Mobridge, S.D. and was one of 11 children.
Patricia was a longtime Zionsville resident and operated a daycare from her home for more than 30 years
Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Harry, daughter, Cheryl of Anna, Texas; son, William (Elosia), grandson, Tyler of Grand Prairie; brother, Richard Ducheneaux of Eagle Butte, S. D.; sisters, Vivian Billman of Indianapolis, and Faith Hackleman of Avon,; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Services for Annie Laura Peavey will be at 11 a.m. at Dodge Baptist Church on Friday, Jan. 20, 2006 under the direction of Grammier-Allee Funeral Home. Her grandson, the Rev. James Peavey will officiate.
Visitation is set for 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, and burial will follow the service at Dodge Cemetery.
Mrs. Peavey was born Sept. 13, 1925, in Dodge and lived there most of her life. She was the only child of Jack and Kate McMillian. She died Jan. 15, 2006, at Green Acres Nursing Home in Huntsville after battling cancer.
Mrs. Peavey babysat many children throughout the years and they, along with her grandchildren, called her ?Nana?
Mrs.Peavey was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Peavey, and daughter-in-law, Sharon Peavey.
She is survived by her children, Johnny Peavey and wife, Linda, of Trinity; grandchildren, Andrew Peavey of Huntsville, James Peavey of Nederland, and James West of Huntsville; great-grandchildren, Shawna and Krystan Peavey of Huntsville, Angel Peavey of Willis, and Chelsea Herring of Trinity; many cousins, including Charles Ward of Amarillo, Carl Jeffries and one devoted cousin, Jimmie Wooten of Huntsville.

Blanch Easterling Peavey was an English teacher in San Antonio 45 years__43 of which were spent at Fox Tech High school. "She lived for teaching," said her sister, Sibyl Carle of San Antonio. "She just loved her English."
Peavey died of a heart attack Friday in her home. She
was 87.
Born in 1904 in Claude Miss., Peavey graduated from high
school in Morgan City, Miss.
She earned a bachelor of arts degree in English from
Mississippi Woman's college in 1923.
In 1927, Peavey earned a master of arts degree in
English from Tulane University
MOVED TO S.A.
She moved to San Antonio that year and began teaching
at Alamo Heights High School. In 1928, Peavey took a job teaching English at Fox tech High school and remained there until her retirement in 1972.
She was a member of the San Antonio retired teachers
Association and past president of Zeta Beta Chapter of Kappa Delta Gamma Society, an organization for exceptional teachers.
In 1935, Peavey married Clarence William Peavey in New
Braunfels. He died in 1962.
Her sister said Peavey enjoyed reading and had a large book collection. "She's read everything under the sun", she said. "She read
mostly historical books, but she read anything she could get her hands on."
Peavey also loved flowers and was a member of the American Association of Women's Garden Clubs and the National Flower Judge
Association. "She loved flowers more than anything in the world," her sister
said. "She just loved flowers. That's the only think she did out of school."
Her sister said Peavey was a friendly woman. "She was
one of the kindest gentlest people I've ever known," she said. "She was stubborn and you couldn't make her do a thing, but she never had an enemy.
Peavey also was a member of Mensa and Manor and Baptist church. For the past 10 years, she did volunteer work for the Audie L Murphy
Memorial Veterans Hospital.
Peavey is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, with burial in Mission Burial Park North.

Charles Odell Peavey, of Longview Texas died Wednesday, Aug 2, 2000. He was 68.
Born in Wootson, Ill on Aug 2, 1932, he was the son of the late Oscar and Bessie Sharp Peavey and was a retired factory employee and the widower of Bertha Spaulding Peavey.
Survivors include two daughters , Esther Louise Stansberry and Carolyn Kay Cazares, both of Longview, Texas; two brothers, Ray and Vernon peavey both of Indianapolis; two sisters, Katherine Lay and Iola Roirdon, both of Indianapolis; and four grandchildren, Robert Odell Smith, Charles Nicholas Dominguez and Austin Nathaniel Medrano.
He was predeceased in death by a son, Charles Odell Peavey Jr.; and two brothers Kenneth Peavey and Estill Peavey.
Funeral services were Aug 5, 2000 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev Dwight Coffman officiating. Burial was in Peavey Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Oliver, Larry, & Donnie Peavey, Robert and Anthony Smith & Gene Monday.

Mr. Peavey was born July 14, 1957 in Athens, TX, to Charlie Rupell and Helen Louise Price Peavey and passed away on Jan 9, 2013 in Athens.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Murchison. Charles was married 30 years to his precious wife, Frankie. He was a cowboy and enjoyed working with the cows and riding horses. Charles loved being with his friends and was a great husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
Surviving are Wife, Frankie Peavey of Murchison, TX, Son, Donald Carroll of Malakoff, TX, Brother, Mike & Dianne Ottaberry of Walton, TX, Sister, Jamie & Bill Whittenberg of Murchison, TX, Grandson, Dustin Carroll of Dallas, TX, and other relatives & friends. Claude "Buddy" Peavey entered into rest Tuesday, November 23, 2010 in Boerne, Texas at the age of 79. He was born in Laredo, Texas December 14, 1930.
Buddy is survived by his daughter, Faith M. Rahm and her husband Stephen J.; granddaughters, Stephanie A. Madriz and Hailey N. Rahm; grandson, Eryk B. Rahm; and friend Kelly L. Ebelt.

Dean William Peavey, age 69, of Odessa TX passed from this life on Wednesday, October 22, 2008. He was born in Minneapolis, MN to Norman Daniel Peavey and Odelia Mary (Talbot) Peavey. He was a retired vacuum repairman.
He is survived by two sons, Don Peavey of Beaverton, OR and Daren Peavey of Odessa; one brother, Ronald Peavey and wife Shirley of Dana Point, CA; and three granddaughters.

Dennis Eugene Peavey of League City, Texas, 68,formerly of Marcus, passed away on August 18, 2014 at his home in League City.
Dennis was born in LeMars on July 18, 1946, to Howard and Dorothy Peavey. Dennis began modestly as a paperboy, and his young life was centered around sports and church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting rabbits and squirrels with his father.
Dennis played basketball and football in high school, and after graduation he attended Morningside College in Sioux City before transferring to Colorado State University, where he earned a degree in accounting.
He was offered a position,and later made partner, with Price Water House Coopers and worked in California, Arizona and New York. Dennis enjoyed traveling, and, as his health declined, he loved to read, watch movies and go out to dinner.
Dennis is survived by his wife Rosse Mary; his children, Brian Peavey and his wife Courtney of Houston, Texas, Kerry Helke and her husband Bryan of Santa Fe, New Mexico and step-son Brandon of League City; sisters Doris Dawson and her husband Tom of Washta and Joyce Legg and husband John of Tama ,Iowa; grandchildren Max, Daniel and Aiden Peavey and Benjamin Helke; and many other loving family and friends.
A Celebration of Life ceremony for Dennis was held at the Crowder Funeral Home in League City, Texas on Wednesday August 20, 2014, and interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas. Geneva M. Peavey, Lovingly known as Ginny, died Monday, March 15, 2004, at a local nursing home in Midland Texas. Ginny was born Nov. 3, 1916, in Carmel, to Katherine and Charles Hibbard. She attended High School and Beals Business College in Bangor. She married Russell V. Peavey of Bangor, ME in 1938. She was involved in the insurance business and retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance in 1981.
She was a homemaker, taught Sunday school at First
Universalist Church and served as Girl Scout leader. She was predeceased by her parents, one son, husband, and one sister. She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Nolen of Midland Texas: six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 11a.m. Friday, March 19, 2004 at the Nalley-Pickle Welch Funeral Home Chapel, 3800 N. Big Spring St.

Helen (Price) Peavey was born on Aug. 7, 1927, and passed away after a long battle with illness on March 4, 2009 in Murchison.
Preceded in death by parents W.R. �Bill�and Mary Price; sister, Dorothy Young; husbands, Foster Ottaberry and Rupell Peavey; and son, Donald Wayne Ottaberry; and two great-grandchildren. Survived by sons, Michael Ottaberry and wife Dianne of Athens and Charles Peavey and wife Frankie Peavey of Murchison; daughter, Jamie and son-in-law Bill Whittenberg of Murchison; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Helen worked for 12 years at Perry�s in Athens. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Murchison for 54 years. She was loved and respected by all and will be deeply missed.
Visitation was held Thursday, March 6, at Eubank Funeral Home of Canton. Services will be held at FBC Murchison at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7. Interment will follow at Holly Springs in Martins Mill. Jodie was born April 1, 1977, in Seoul, Korea, to the parentage of Velma Haynes and George Manigo Jr. She grew up a military child and attended high school in Walterboro, S. C.. At the age of 17, with her mother�s consent, she enlisted in the U.S. Army in Alamargordo, NM. She served for two years. She was married to James Peavey in Alexander City, Ala. She moved with her husband from Alexander City to Brownwood in 2007.
Jodie had worked for Texas Juvenile Justice Department and Burkes Outlet. At the time of her death, she was working as Patient Service Coordinator for Cross Timbers Health Clinic. She was a loving wife and caring mother.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, James Peavey; son, Jaelen Peavey; daughter, Jaedice Peavey all of Brownwood; daughter, Alyssa Haynes of Kansas; step-daughter, Apryl Peavey also of Brownwood; one brother, John Haynes and wife Donna of Alamorgordo, NM.; and one sister, Jamie Haynes of El Paso, TX Jodie was preceded in death by both parents.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. All services are under the direction of Brownwood Funeral Home and Cremations.

John R. Peavey Sr. dies
John R. Peavey Sr., of McAllen, well-known retired law enforcement officer, died Sunday in McAllen Methodist Hospital after a short illness.
Mr. Peavey, a pioneer resident, had resided in the Valley since he was 12 years old. He lived in various cities in the area, including Brownsville, where his parents first settled in 1905.
He had been a McAllen resident for the past 40 years.
During his long career in law enforcement, he served as a deputy sheriff, as chief scout for the U.S. Army border troops from 1916 to 1920, and as assistant chief of the Valley sector of the U.S. Border Patrol. He also served as a Texas Ranger, and after his retirement, he continued to hold a commission as a special Ranger.
After he retired he remained active in public life by serving as an appraiser and investigator for a group of Upper Valley banks.
Because of his patrol activities, which took him to every part of the Valley, and his keen interest in the development of the area, he was also cast in the role of historian. Mr. Peavey could entertain gatherings at length with tales of the early days on the border. He was active in the local Old Timers group. Mr. Peavey kept an extensive clipping file, which dated back to the early days of the century beginning with issues of the Brownsville Herald and the old Brownsville Sentinel.
Drawing on this material, which covered more than a half century and upon his own memory, he could discourse at length on the coming of the railroad, early ranch days, conversion of fields of mesquite and cactus into new cities and the forays of Mexican bandits across the border in the World War l era. His recollections of the past were preserved in written form when he also became the author of Echoes From the Rio Grande, an addition to Texas' histories shelves.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. J. H. Geraci of Metarie, La., two grandsons, Maj. Robert R. Peavey of Luke Air Force Base, Arizona, and John T. Scott, of San Antonio; a granddaughter, Susan Oehlers of Luling, Tex; a brother, Harry Peavey of Darien, Conn; and three great grandchildren.
The Rev. David Freeman of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate at funeral services Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Kreidler Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Masonic rites performed by McAllen Lodge No. 1110 A.F. & A.M.
Members of the McAllen lodge will be pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Franklin Ewers Sr., Lloyd Bentsen Sr., Ned Lockhart, Shelly Collier Jr., Ned Jackson, James E. Thurman, James Wood, David Wood and Ray Reyes.

LIVINGSTON - Funeral services for Michael Aaron Peavey, 31, were held Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. David Busby officiating. Interment followed in Forest Hill Cemetery.
He was born Dec. 18, 1971 in Pasadena, the son of John and Sharon Mainor Peavey, and died Saturday, Feb. 15, at his residence in Livingston.

Sandra Peavey Nolen, 67, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at her residence after a brief illness. Sandra was born Feb. 18, 1939, in Bangor Maine, to Russell and Geneva Peavey.
Sandra attended Mount Ida Junior College, Newton, Mass., and she continued to be a strong supporter of the college throughout her life. She was involved with Meals on Wheels, St. Ann's Catholic Church Altar Society, and the Girl Scouts. Sandra loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed the outdoors and animals, and had a special fondness for horses. She also loved entertaining friends and family during the summer at her home at Sandy Point, overlooking Penobscot Bay. But most of all, Sandra was a woman of great faith, who loved Jesus and was devoted to His Blessed Mother, Mary.
Survivors include her husband, Ken Nolen; four children, Lynne Davis and husband, Fred, Mark Nolen and wife, Donna, Laurie Messer and husband, Bart, Linda Young-Owens and husband, Doug; 13 grandchildren, Lauren and Joseph Young, Emily and Amanda Owens, Russell, Richard and Hallie Messer, Miranda and Trey Davis, Justin, Christopher and Casey Nolen and Patrick Klinke; one great-grandchild, Carter Ryan Nolen; and two nephews, Michael and Marc Grock.
She was predeceased by her parents; and one brother, Forrest Peavey.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church with Fr. James Bridges officiating. Interment will be at Rest-haven Memorial Park. A native of Brownsville, Mrs. Peavey had lived at numerous places in South Texas including Corpus Christi, Alice, Laredo, Hidalgo and McAllen. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of McAllen and former member of McAllen Chapter 14, Order of the Eastern Star.

Funeral Services for Prominent Southern Lumberman Tuesday
Anderson J. Peavy, 76...died at a local sanitarium at 7 AM Monday. Mr. Peavy had been in failing health for some time and suffered a stroke at his home last Wednesday. He was president of the Peavy-Byrnes Lumber Co., Peavy-Moore Lumber Co., Peavy-Welsh Lumber Co., and Peavy-Wilson Lumber Co.
LEADING LUMBERMAN
Mr. PEAVY, who was one of the best known lumbermen in this part of the country, was born in Covington County, Alabama on August 8, 1866. The family moved to Butler County, Alabama, where Mr. PEAVY's father was engaged in the timber business. The family left Alabama in 1877, moving to Angelina County,Texas when Mr. PEAVY was 11 years old. Mr. PEAVY worked on his father's farm and went to school until he was 18. He then took his first job, that of school teacher, which he followed successively for four years. During school vacations he clerked for the W. H. Bonner store in Lufkin.
He later engaged in the logging business at Michelli, Texas where he worked for the Tyler Car and Lumber Co. Mr. PEAVY became a partner when the company was reorganized and it was known as the Bonner-Peavy & Bonner Company. At the end of 14 months Mr. PEAVY sold his interest in the logging company and worked about a year and a half in a store and later bought an interest in the T. J. Bonner Logging Co., and logged on the Angelina river for the Tyler Car and Lumber Co.
ENTERS BUSINESS in 1898
In 1898, Mr. PEAVY went into business for himself, logging for four months with the Eupolia Lumber Co. In 1903 he was associated with his brother, J. E.PEAVY, and later helped organize the Lufkin Foundry and Machine Co., and was assistant secretary-treasurer. When the Henderson Land and Lumber Co. was organized at Clawson, Texas, Mr. PEAVY became vice-president and general manager until he moved to Mansfield in 1909 when he organized the Peavy-Brynes Lumber Co. with their sawmill at Kinder, LA. In 1916, he organized the Peavy-Wilson Lumber Co., with their saw mill in Sabine parish. In 1919 he organized the Peavy-Moore Lumber Co. and in 1929 the Peavy-Welsh LumberCo. Mr. PEAVY was president of all four organizations.
During these operations he organized three short-line railways, one of which is still operating, the Sabine and Neches Valley Railway Co.
HEADED PINE ASSOCIATION
Mr. PEAVY was a past president of the Southern Pine Association of New Orleans. He was a thirty-second degree Mason and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was also associated with the Frost Lumber Industries and the American Compress and Warehouse Co. Mr. PEAVY was married to Miss Emma Handley of Lufkin, Texas. They had no children. Surviving besides his widow are two brothers, W. F. PEAVY of Lufkin, Texas and J. E. PEAVY of Deweyville, Texas; two sisters, Miss Lula PEAVY and Mrs. Clara Glass both of Lufkin; a nephew, W. A. PEAVY, connected with the PEAVY-Brynes Lumber Co. of Shreveport and his sister-in-law, Mrs. George E. Brynes.
Brief funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 AM at the family
residence...Following services here, the funeral will proceed to Lufkin, Texas, former home of deceased, where further rites will be held at 3:30 PM...Interment will be in the Lufkin Cemetery under direction of Osborn Funeral Home.

Graveside service for Asa Gibson Gip Peavy, 82, of Hudson will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2005, in Largent Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Carroway Sr. officiating.
Asa Gibson Gip Peavy, was born December 13, 1922, in the Old Hudson Community of Angelina County and died Monday, January 3, 2005, in a local hospital.
Mr. Peavy was the youngest of ten children born to William Floyd Samp and Dezzie Gibson Peavy, a pioneer Angelina County family. He lived in the Hudson Community most of his life and graduated from Hudson High School as valedictorian in 1939, and he was the only boy in the class of 10 seniors. He was attending SFA State Teachers College at the time of his enlistment in the U.S. Army Corps, serving in the training command. He was a fighter pilot instructor at Luke Field, Arizona, and a B-29 flight engineer and a check pilot at Randolph Field, Texas. After his discharge in 1945, Mr. Peavy attended the University of Houston and completed his education, receiving his master's degree in architectural engineering. He was an architectural engineer and design engineer for Temple Associates in Diboll, Texas, before his retirement. He also served as construction coordinator and project manager for commercial and industrial jobs done in various locations around the country.
Mr. Peavy is a non-denominational member of the Body of Christ. His other interests and activities included : life member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas, charter member of the Angelina County Civil Air Patrol, oil field roughneck, uranium prospector, sugar mill manager, bridge builder, cattle man, tree farmer, rock hound, jeweler, furniture builder, Hudson School board member and Angelina County Tax Appraisal District board member.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Dorothy (Woodworth) Peavy; sons, Asa G. Peavy Jr., of San Francisco, California, Charles E. Peavy of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, William W. Woody and Tina Peavy of Hudson, Clifford and Linda Peavy of Katy; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Peavy Penn; sister-in-law, Frances Davis Peavy; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Peavy was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and six sisters.

PEAVY, DAVID ALAN
DALLAS, TX
Following a courageous battle with cancer, David A. Peavy went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 17, 2008. He was born to Frank J. and Pauline Otto Peavy in the historic city of Marietta, Ohio.
He graduated from Culver Military Academy in 1949 with honors in band and many medals in riflery. In 1953, he obtained a degree in Petroleum Engineering from Tulsa University where he was a member of ROTC, and a member of the Lambi Chi Alpha fraternity. He married Mary M. Martin from Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1954 he entered the United States Air Force where he served as an Air Force Radar squadron leader stationed in Omaha, Nebraska. As a 1st Lieutenant, he received a Metal of honor for meritorious action, and a "Point with Pride" decoration by the Air Defense Command for his role in saving a plane whom had lost com- munications. He returned to Tulsa after leaving the USAF in 1956, and secured a position with the Sinclair Oil and Gas company within the Gas Department. Shortly thereafter, he enrolled in the Tulsa University Night Law school where he received his Juris Doctorate in 1960. While in Tulsa he served as the President of the Oklahoma Gas Men's association, the President of the Methodist Men of Christ Methodist Church, and was a member of the Lambi Chi Alpha House board for 10 years.
He and family moved to Dallas, Texas in 1969 upon the merger of Sinclair with Atlantic Richfield where he assumed the duties of manager of Corporate Gas supplies. During this time he served as a member of the Advancial Credit Union Board of Directors for a period of twenty years. He retired in 1986 from Atlantic Richfield and was a Gas consultant for another ten years. He was a volunteer for the Paralyzed Veterans MS society. He will be remembered by family and friends as having a strong will, gentle heart, and a mentor to those who sought his wisdom. He loved to sail, play the baritone, be with family, and had a passion for his boxers. Retirement years brought forth new and old interests close to his heart: travel (US and abroad), grandchildren, swimming, deer and dove hunting, family camping trips, fishing, Dallas Symphony orchestra concerts, the Carrolton Wind symphony of which he was a member of 8 years, and most important of all: God and family. In early June, he enjoyed the celebration of his 77th birthday and 55th wedding anniversary with family and relatives from California, Florida, Louisiana, Missouri, Maryland, Ohio and Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother William R. Peavy, and sister Judith P. Ervin. He is survived by his wife Mary of 55 years, son Mark Alan Peavy and wife Julie, daughter Pamela Carol Streck and husband Ted; five wonderful grandchildren Brian David, Daniel Alan, Joseph Colter, Lauren Nicole, and Sara Grace. He is also survived by sister Pauline Cox of Oxford, Maryland, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Emma Louise "Lou" Peavy Post was an active volunteer for a host of Dallas civic, charitable, political and social organizations.
In 1962, she was instrumental in forming the first Boys Club in Dallas. Four years later, she and former Texas first lady Nellie Connally founded the Texas Galaxy Ball to raise funds for the Texas Mental Health Association.
Mrs. Post, 87, died Saturday , Oct 31, 2009 of natural causes at her Dallas home.
A memorial service was Tuesday at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church. She was entombed in a private ceremony at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Post was born and raised in Edgewood, Texas. She received a bachelor's degree from what is now the University of North Texas.
In 1946, she married Troy Post, who parlayed $130 in savings into a financial empire that at one point included the ownership of more than 80 percent of Braniff International Airways stock, all of National Car Rental and 30 percent of the National Bank of Commerce in Dallas. Mr. Post died in 1998.
Mrs. Post nurtured her family and the civic causes she supported, said her daughter Jane Post Harelik of Stuart, Fla.
"She was a great mom," Ms. Harelik said. "She never neglected us. She always had time for us and Daddy. We didn't know how she fit everything in. It was just amazing."
Mrs. Post often worked hand in hand with her husband. "They were pretty equal in everything they did," Ms. Harelik said.
In 1964, she and Mr. Post gave Lovers Lane United Methodist Church three acres to complete a nearly 10-acre parcel that became the church's home on the northeast corner of Northwest Highway and Inwood Road.
Mrs. Post was also politically active. In 1964, Dallas Democratic leaders selected her to be the county's state committee member. She was also a member of the State Democratic Executive Committee when Lyndon Johnson was elected president.
"She was fun and feisty," her daughter said. "She spoke her mind and wasn't afraid to argue with anyone, yet she was a gracious, gracious lady."
Mrs. Post served on the advisory council for the Dallas Community Chest, which became part of the United Way. She also had been a member of the selection committee for the Dallas Grand Jury.
In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Post is survived by another daughter, Judy Post Catalano of Dallas; a son, John A. Post of Dallas; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

PEAVY, JAMES EVERETT, JR., M.D.

James Everett Peavy, Jr., doctor and state public-health official, was born in Lufkin, Texas, on January 21, 1911, the son of James E. and Mamie (McClendon) Peavy. He received his M.D. at Baylor College of Medicine in 1935. After an internship at Bethany Methodist Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas, he began private practice in Poteet in 1936. In 1939 he joined the Texas Department of Health as a unit director in Sweetwater.
He entered the Army Medical Corps in 1942; after his discharge in 1946 he was reinstated as director in Sweetwater TX. In 1947 he became a medical field consultant with the Division of Local Health Services, a position he held until he left for Boston to earn a master of public health degree from the Harvard School of Public Health (1955). He then returned to Texas, where he became director of the Communicable Disease Division of the state health department. Peavy was appointed commissioner of health in Texas in 1959. During his sixteen years in this office, he extended basic public-health services from fifty-nine to all 254 counties in Texas. He helped improve programs for state meat inspection and medical training for ambulance attendants. His plan for statewide immunization became a model for fighting childhood diseases across the country, and Peavy received much of the credit for the 1971 Texas School Immunization Law. Under his leadership the health department was reorganized into sections, each headed by a section chief, the three state tuberculosis hospitals were placed under health department authority, and the state Medicaid program was developed and implemented. Peavy also established the Office of Program Planning and expanded the divisions of Civil Defense, Vector Control, Wastewater Surveillance, and Marine Resources. He retired in 1975 for health reasons. He was a member of the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, and the American Association of Public Health Physicians. He received the Arthur G. McCormack award from the American Association of Public Health Physicians.
He was a Mason and a Rotarian. On July 28, 1936, he married Frieda Marie McNeal. Peavy died in Austin TX on January 11, 1980, and was survived by his wife and two daughters.

Funeral services for Mr. Johnny R.Peavy Sr., age 79, of Lake Palestine, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Elliott Memorial Chapel at the Boren-Conner Funeral Home, Bullard, with Bro. Trey Ainsworth officiating. Burial will follow in the Bullard Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Johnny R. Peavy Sr. was born March 27, 1930, in Houston to John James and Ruby Hall Peavy. He had resided in the Tyler and Lake Palestine areas most of his life. In his early years he sold insurance and later became the owner and operator of the Wharf Marina on Lake Palestine and the Johnny Peavy Construction Co. He built many of the first piers and boathouses during the beginning of Lake Palestine. He was a past-president of the Tyler Jaycees. With the help of the Tyler Jaycees, he started the first bass tournament on Lake Tyler. He was an avid sportsman who loved deer hunting and spent many hours in the woods. He passed this love of the outdoors to his sons and grandsons. He was also a charter member of the Eastwood Baptist Church, Tyler, and served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Peavy was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Darlene Hufstetler and Linda Bowers; two brothers, Kenneth "Tootsie" Peavy and Jimmy Peavy; and granddaughter, Gina Patterson.
Mr. Peavy is survived by his wife, Ree Peavy of Lake Palestine; two sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny R. Jr. and Darlene Peavy of Bullard, and Ronald James and Linda Peavy of Livingston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Motchen and Jessie Hayes of Orange, and Pam and Larry Patterson of Lindale; one brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Bettypeavy of Chandler; six grandchildren, Krista Ashcraft, Reeane McCarver, Jandeen McElroy, Johnny Peavy III, Jackson Peavy and Samantha Peavy; four great-grandchildren, Hayden Ashcraft, J.P. McElroy, Jonah McElroy and Breea McCarver; and nieces , nephews and many friends.

Mary Peavy, 94, of Austin died Jan. 23, 2006. She was born Oct. 26, 1911, in Meyersville, Texas to John and Marie Wohlert Ideus.
Mary was married to Dr. Charles Peavy. She was an LVN with the Texas Department of MHMR and was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church in Austin.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews. Slim was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.

Oleta Murphy Peavy, 85, of Nacogdoches, was born May 15, 1922, in Center, Texas, the daughter of the late Pearl (Jackson) and Bob Murphy. She passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2007, at her residence.
Mrs. Peavy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as a homemaker. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Nacogdoches.
Survivors include her daughter, Aleta Spivey of Nacogdoches; granddaughter, Angela Jones and husband Clay of Nacogdoches; great-grandchildren, Mason and Morgan Jones; a number of nieces, nephews and other family members; and caregivers, Delores Gipson and Catherine Morris, both of Nacogdoches.
Mrs. Peavy was preceded in death by her husband, Jim B. Peavy.

Roy attended the public schools of Saint Lucie County and a graduate of Fort Pierce Central High School Class of 1973. Roy traveled a lot of places by reading. He was employed with Triumph Aircraft as a senior aircraft mechanic.

Mrs. Penn was born November 14, 1909 in Angelina County, Texas, to the W. F. (Samp) Peavy and Dezzie Ruth (Gibson), and died Tuesday, March 13, 2007 in Lufkin.
Mrs. Penn was a lifetime resident of Hudson. She earned her bachelor's degree from Texas Women's University and her master's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. Mrs. Penn taught at Hudson ISD for 37 years while raising four boys, and spent her summers working in the garden and canning. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with friends and learning numerous crafts. Mrs. Penn was a dedicated Christian and member of the Timberland Drive Church of Christ, who taught and brought many to Christ.

Mrs. Peavy passed away on June 2, 2010 in San Antonio after a lengthy illness.
Virginia Harrington Peavy was born in Mart, Texas, January 29, 1916, to William Edward Harrington and Bettie Campbell Harrington. She grew up and attended public school in Seguin, Texas and earned a B. S. degree from Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas.
She was active in her community throughout her life. She taught at Kurth Elementary School for twenty-five years, taught Sunday School and belonged to the Altar Guild at St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church and belonged to many patriotic organizations, including National Society Magna Charta Dames, Sabine Chapter Daughters of the American Colonies, Daughters of the American Revolution, The Ladies of the Thistle, Jamestowne Society, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, United States Daughters of 1812, Lufkin Genealogical and Historical Society, Friends of Kurth Memorial Library and the Museum of East Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom peavy, in 1992.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty peavy LeFlore and husband, John LeFlore of San Antonio; son, Tom Peavy, Jr. and wife, Peggy Peavy of Atlanta, Texas; four granddaughters, Jeanne LeFlore Tatum and husband, Kelvin Tatum and Katherine LeFlore Smelko and husband, John Smelko of San Antonio, Texas, Elaine Peavy Zediker and husband, Craig Zediker and Kathryn Peavy Sewell and husband, Gabe Sewell of Little Rock, Arkansas; three great-granddaughters, Kate Smelko of San Antonio, Texas and Georgia Zediker and Zoe Zediker of Little Rock, Arkansas; nieces, Mary Stripling Duncan, Leah Lacy, Diane Williams; nephew, Bill Stripling.

William E. Peavy, Jr., born in Dallas, Texas on November 11, 1919, died on December 26, 2004.
He is survived by his wife Joanna (Sembol); a sister, Doris Hubbard, and husband, George of Sun City West, Arizona; a son, Carl Peavy, and wife, Linda of Garland, Texas; a daughter, Judy Boreham, and husband, Roland of Fort Smith, Arkansas; four grandsons, Richard Alexander of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Gregory Peavy of Fort Worth, Texas, William Alexander of Bozeman, Montana, and Christopher Peavy of Richardson, Texas; and four great-grandchildren.
He was the son of William E. and Gladys Nash Peavy, both members of pioneer Dallas County families. His maternal grandfather, Thomas F. Nash, was a Dallas County judge and was instrumental in the founding and naming of Garland, Texas.
Mr. Peavy attended public school in both Dallas and Garland, he graduated from Garland High School in 1936, and from the University of Texas in 1941, where he was a member of Delta Sigma Pi. He served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy during World War II.
After the war, he returned to Garland, and with his mother, founded Peavy Insurance Agency. It grew to be one of the largest independent insurance agencies in the Dallas area. He earned designations as both a Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter. Always concerned about professionalism in the insurance agency system, he was active in the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas, serving as its president from 1978-1979, and was the recipient of the Drex G. Foreman Award in 1988 for his meritorious service. He was a board member of the Independent Insurance Agents of America. While in Garland, he was active in civic affairs. He was a city councilman, President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, President of Eastern Hills Country Club, and President of the administrative board of the First United Methodist Church. After his retirement in 1991, he made his home in Austin, Texas.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m.,Thursday in Williams Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Garland, Texas.

Born July 11, 1926, in San Augustine County, he was the son of Gordon Peavy and Emma Henry. He had been a construction supervisor for Deep East Texas Electric Coop and had served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Redland Masonic Lodge No. 3.
Survivors include his wife, Claudine Peavy of San Augustine; daughter, Gayle Muckleroy of Nacogdoches and Debbie Clark of League City; sisters, Betty Peavy of Chireno and Ruby Kennemer of Kemah; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Arthur L. Peevey, 77, of Buckholts passed away April 30, 2012 after a brief fight with cancer.He was born in Waco Jan. 22, 1935, to Arthur Lee Peevey and Ella Mae Morris Peevey. He was also preceded in death by a brother David Peevey of Austin.
He is survived by his wife Regina and by stepchildren Risa Pajestka and husband Frank; Rhoda Montgomery and husband Rob, Joseph Brooks Swanner and wife Darla. He is also survived by his daughter Kimberly Zapata and husband Amador and two grandchildren, Mariah and Hunter Solano and four step grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother George Peevey and wife Darla, a sister Jo Ann Rawlinson, a sister Marilyn Michalka and husband Paul. He is survived by his Aunt Rose Bordovsky of Austin, and many nieces and nephews.
Arthur graduated from Waco High School with the class of 1953, and was retired after 34 years with Lone Star Gas Company. He served three years in the United States Navy and was a member of the SPJST Lodge 80, Holland.
He was an avid quail and deer hunter, golfer, and fisherman. He earned several bass tournament trophies. A talented artist, Mr. Peevey was known locally for his whimsical rock paintings. Arthur will be missed by many loving family members and long time friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 2, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 p.m. at Marek-Burns Funeral Home in Cameron. Funeral service to be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 3, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Buckholts.

Charles C. Peevey, 92, went home to Heaven Saturday, February 16, 2008 at an Abilene nursing center.
The graveside service will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Elmwood Memorial Park. A celebration of life service will follow at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Reid officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South. Born in Abilene, Texas on September 23, 1915, Charles was the son of Katie B. (Kirk) and Ben L. Peevey. A lifelong resident of Abilene, he graduated from Abilene High School and attended Hardin-Simmons University. Charles married Willie "Billie" Gaines in Abilene on October 8, 1941. From February 14, 1942 to January 6, 1946, he was in the U. S. Army Air Corps, serving in the Pacific Theater of War and Guam.
He was a letter carrier with the U. S. Postal Service from August 8, 1946 to July 1, 1973, retiring after a 27-year career. He was previously employed for five years in the Taylor County Tax Assessor-Collector's Office.
Charles was a very active member Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. He was a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Abilene, and a charter member of Masonic Lodge John Sayles Chapter #1408 in Abilene. He was active in numerous volunteer services.
Charles is survived by his son, Dwain Peevey and wife, Marilyn, of San Angelo; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew. His parents and his wife, Billie, preceded him in death.

Jo Peevey Miesch, 85, of Paris, was reunited with her beloved David C. Miesch when she peacefully passed away in her residence on Saturday, January 19, 2013.
Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home has scheduled services for�� 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, with The Reverend Michael Hurst and The Reverend Betty Clement officiating the funeral service at Holy Cross Episcopal Church.
Mrs. Miesch was born July 20, 1927, in Robinson, McClendon Co., TX to Lila Eugene and Solon Peevey, the youngest of six living children. She married David C. Miesch March 22, 1956, at Grace Episcopal Church in Galveston, Texas. She was a long-time member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church, participating in every aspect of Church activities including Alter Guild, first woman member of the Vestry, and creating the Needlepoint Guild responsible for designing the Church�s beloved needlepoint projects. Other important volunteer projects included: King�s Daughter nursery, hospital auxiliary, and Sam Bell Maxey Museum.
Jo was a woman who lived life on her own terms yet was the perfect companion to her husband, David, in his medical practice as well as in the community. Jo raised her daughters to be independent, educated women who, like their father, have made successful careers in medicine. She was the first woman board member of Paris Bank of Texas before it became Bank of America and, in addition, owned and managed the Village Shopping Center. She had a keen sense of business and enjoyed the challenge of being a woman in a man�s world.
A companion to David, Jo shared interests in foreign travel and collecting fine art. They enjoyed their season tickets to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and fine dining. She always kept up with the latest fashions and remained an inspiration to young women in the community with her attention to detail and fashion sense.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, and four sisters.
Survivors include Margaret and James Shupe of Plano, Mary Gail Miesch and David Lyckman of Paris, and grandchildren David, Taylor and Haley Lyckman and Laura, Elizabeth, and George Shupe ,brother Solon Peevey and numerous nieces and nephews.

J. C. Peevey, age 88, Confederate veteran and long a familiar figure in Falls County, died at his home in the Pool Creek section at 12:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon. He had been confined to his bed since about Christmas.
Surviving deceased are his widow, two sons, H. B. Peevey of Waco and J.C. Peevey, Jr., of the Pool Creek community, and four daughters, Mesdames R. V. Walker, Will Walker and J. T. Landrum of Satin and Mrs. C. E. Newton of Wichita Falls.

In 1938, she moved from Bronte to Abilene, where she married Charles C. Peevey on October 8, 1941. She worked as a sales clerk for various jewelry stores in Abilene.
Billie was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church and a former member the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Hendrick Medical Center Auxiliary.
Her parents; two brothers, Jim W. Gaines and Robert W. Gaines; and a sister, LaVerne McIntosh, preceded her in death.
Billie is survived by her husband, Charles C. Peevey of Abilene; a son, Dwain Peevey and wife, Marilyn, of San Angelo; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

After suffering a long illness, ANN W. Pevey went to her rest with the Lord on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, without complaint as was her lifetime custom.
She is survived by her devoted husband Keith, her daughter Laurie, and her son Keith III. Ann was born May 17, 1933 in the Canal Zone where her father was stationed as a submarine commander. When the war started he left for duty, she and her mother and sister moved to Haddonfield, N.J. to live with her grandparents. After her father retired, the family moved to Montgomery, Alabama where she later attended Hollins College before coming to Houston. She was predeceased by her parents, Adm. John R. Waterman and Garnett R. Waterman.
She was a devoted member of Berachah Church before moving to Austin County in the mid-seventies. Her greatest pleasure was teaching a children's Sunday School class. Ann was also a dedicated member of the Cat Fancy and was a well known International Cat Fancy show-judge who traveled widely to many countries. She was a highly respected breeder and her bloodlines were often eagerly sought for their show quality class. During her long career, she accumulated a host of championship awards for best of class. Although, she narrowly missed a Cat of The Year award by placing second, after the long campaign she blithely accepted the reality with poise and made it her final venture.
She is survived by her sisters Carole Hanson and Julie Cound, her brother-in-law Richard N. Pevey and his wife Marcia, and many nieces and nephews.We wish to express our deepest thanks to the numerous physicians who provided many additional years of life with special gratitude for our dedicated friend, Nizar Dholakia, M.D., and a special thanks to the staff at Cornerstone Hospital. She loved to dance, play dominoes and cards, and was an excellent seamstress and cook. She also loved working in the garden and travelling. Emma Joyce cherished her time with family and friends, and especially sharing precious moments and laughter with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Pevey was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Percy Ray Pevey, and her brother Duel Ray Stuart.
She is survived by her husband, Phillip A. Webb, Sr.; daughter, Verniece Pevey Browning and husband, Elgin; son, Dwain Pevey and wife, Betsy, brother, James Edward Stuart and wife, Bobbie; stepsons, Phillip A. Webb, Jr. and wife, Karen and Kevin Webb; stepdaughter, Teena Reynolds and husband, Keven; grandchildren, Stefanie Goldsmith, Michael Pevey and wife, Lucretia, Amanda Rider and husband, Robbie, LaTricia Pevey Powell and husband, Ryan, Casey Pevey Pope and husband, Adam; step grandchildren, Dean Webb, Dylan and Ryan Reynolds; great grandchildren, Brooklyn Goldsmith, Kinlee Rider, Ryan, Layne, and Slayden Pevey, Keileigh Journeay, Samantha Pevey, Joshua Powell, and Ethan Pope.

Services for Jimmy Lee Pevey, Sr, 70, of Lubbock, will be held at 10 am on Friday, April 29, 2011 in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven. Mr. Pevey passed away on Monday, April 25th.
Jimmy was born on June 30, 1940 in Crosby County to James C. and Elsie I. Lindsey Pevey. He married the former Dean Moore in Lubbock on Dec 7, 1963. He was a truck driver with Clark Equipment for most of his career.
Survivors include his wife, Dean; one son, Sonny of Lubbock; one daughter, Hollie Griffith of Lubbock; 2 grandchildren, Justin Griffith and Lindsey Pevey; 3 brothers, Buddy, Doug, and Butch pevey, all of Lubbock; and one sister, Julia Robinson of Spur. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, and 5 sisters.

Memorial services for Virgene Pevey, 89, of KilleenTX will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen, with Dr. Joe Rich officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Monticello, GA.
Mrs. Pevey passed away March 23,2009, in Killeen. She was born Jan. 12, 1920, in McComb, Miss., to James and Mamie McKinley.
She was a member of Amazing Grace Fellowship Church. She was a teacher with the Killeen school district for more than 30 years before retiring.
Mrs. Pevey was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Bill Pevey Sr. on July 12, 1983.
Survivors include her daughter, Nelda Harris; her son, Bill Pevey, Jr.; her grandchildren, Billy Harris, Aaron Pevey, Ryan Pevey, Vickie Smith, Alena Pevey, Justin Skelton and Dustin Skelton; and her great-grandchildren, Kenneth Skelton and Marissa Skelton.

Husband of Oleta PEAVEY
Law Ash, 78, of Denton died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Denton Regional Medical Center.
Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with Chaplain Ricks Edmondson officiating. Burial will follow in Sanger Cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, Jan. 14, for visitation.
Mr. Ash was born July 24, 1921, in West Virginia to Jetta Merle and Law A. "Dutch" Ash.
He graduated from Fort Stockton High school in 1940, where he lettered in football and basketball. He served in the Navy during World War II and married Oleta Peavey in May 1950, in Dallas.
Mr. Ash worked for Moore Business Forms for 40 years and retired when the plant closed in 1987.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Karen M. Adams of Carrollton; and son, Dennis Law Ash.

She was
born Sept. 25, 1922, in Menard. She was a homemaker and a member of Church of
Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Parker; both parents,
Charles and Pharo PEAVY; two sisters, Pauline Mayes and Edith Benton; and five
brothers, Oliver, James, Fred, Emit and Albert PEAVY.
Survivors include
daughter, Margaret Cannon and husband, James, of San Angelo; sister, Lena Spinks
of Menard; three grandchildren, Sherry Stephens of Tomball, Jack Cannon and
wife, Brenda, of Mansfield and Beverly Childress and husband, Brett, of Crowley;
four great-grandchildren; and two special nieces, Charlene Crisp of Port Lavaca

Robert W. Bob Sorrels went to be with his Lord at 6:25 p.m. Thursday,
January 28, 1999, at his residence in San Angelo.
Memorial graveside service
will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, in Fairmount Cemetery conducted by the Rev.
John Hollar of Austin, assisted by the Rev. Paul Terry, chaplain of Hospice of
San Angelo Inc., with musical arrangements by Eric Hollar, minister of music at
Tree of Life Church. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home.
Robert Wade
was born to John Tucker and Corinne (PEVEY) Sorrels on Nov. 22, 1915, in Como,
Panola County, Miss., and moved, with his parents and younger brother, to San
Angelo in 1920.
He attended the San Angelo public schools, graduating in 1933
and then attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Bob volunteered for
military duty after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He entered the Army
Air Force and was trained in several locations in the eastern United States,
including Yale University. While at Yale, the ``Glenn Miller Band'' was also
stationed there. For retreat and reviews, the band played the marches set to swing - much to the delight of the cadets and a lifetime memory for Bob.
After receiving his commission, he was stationed at La Junta, Colo., Camp
Campbell, Ky., and Muskogee, Okla., before receiving his overseas assignment.
He served in the Southwest Pacific as maintenance engineer of P-38 aircraft
with the 36th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron and was in the Philippines and
located on the Island of Luzon. At the time of his discharge in 1946, he had
attained the rank of major.
Robert W. Sorrels and Ruby Katherine Neal were
married Feb. 15, 1947, in Junction, Kimble County, and celebrated almost 52
wonderful years together as residents of San Angelo.
He was owner-operator of
Sorrels Food Store, and S&S Trim Shop for a number of years before becoming
staff appraiser for San Angelo Savings Association, from which he retired in
1977. His retirement years had been devoted to management of rental property
and investments.
In addition to his wife, Robert W. is survived by three sons,
Gary Neal Sorrels and Stephen Tucker Sorrels, both of Austin, and Robert Craig
Sorrels and wife, Cindy, and three grandchildren, Rosanna Marie, Patricia Ann
and Wesley Ryan Sorrels, all of Euless. He also is survived by two nephews, Dr.
John W. Sorrels of Hot Springs, Ark., and James R. Sorrels of Austin; and a
niece, Jana Sorrels Perdue of San Antonio.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, John Tucker and Corinne (Pevey) Sorrels; infant daughter, Elizabeth
Sue; and brother, John Pevey Sorrels.
Pallbearers will be Carl Brinegar and
Mike Levesque, both of San Angelo, W. Glenn Fair of Oklahoma City, Thom Perdue
of San Antonio, Dr. J.W. Bill Sorrels of Hot Springs and James R. "Jim"
Sorrels of Austin. Honorary pallbearers will be Nita R. Townley, Mary T. Kerbow
and James P. "Jim" Kerbow, all of San Angelo, James A. "Jim" Ulmer III of
Baltimore, Kenneth J. Ulmer of Taos, N.M., W. Jay ``Budge'' Garrett of
Ballinger, Dr. C.E. Loeffler of Corpus Christi and Junction, and Gerald R.
Loeffler of Junction.
