PEAVEY PEAVEY, EUGENE J. "GENE" BELLA VISTA, AR. Submitted by Mark Kulow Eugene J. "Gene" Pevey 78, of Bella Vista, Arkansas died Saturday, April 23, 2005 at the Northwest Medical Center of Benton County, Bentonville, Arkansas. He was born March 1, 1927 in Wichita, Kansas the son of Sherman Hoffman Peavey and Edna Florence (Giffin) Peavey. Gene served in the U. S. Marine Corps during WWII. He was employed by the Southwestern Bell as a telephone technician, from which he retired after 36 years of February 17, 1989. He relocated to Bella Vista, Arkansas in August of 1999 from Houston, Texas. He enjoyed golfing, listening to music and singing, gardening, and flying - having received a private pilot license in the 1970's. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, and a member of the Christian Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Edwin Thruston Peavey; Donald Lee Peavey: and Herbert Vernon Peavey. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Jean (Ratcliff) Peavey of Bella Vista, Ark.; son, Gary E. Rider and his wife, Mary, of Keller, Texas; daughters, Jeannie Morey and husband, Roger, of Jane, Mo., and Jackie Kulow and her husband, Mark, of Pine, Colo.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and his brother, Grayston B. Peavey of Wichita, Kan. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 10:00 a. m. Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jim Haffecke officiating. Visitation will be Monday , April 25, 2005 from 4:00 p. m. until 8: p. m. with family meeting friends from 7:00 p. m. until 8:00 p. m. Burial will be at the Fayetteville National Cemetery. PEAVY PEAVY, CARLENE CROMWELL FORT SMITH, AR Carlene Cromwell Peavy, a resident of Garland for more than 50 years, died in Fort Smith, Ark., on June 8, 1999. She was born Jan. 10, 1921, in San Angelo to Carl Cromwell and Luella Lunsford Cromwell. Her father was a pioneer West Texas wildcatter who drilled the Santa Rita No. 1, the discovery well of the Permian Basin Oil Field. She spent her early years in the oil fields around Texon, Texas. Her family later moved to San Angelo where she attended school, graduating from San Angelo High School. She attended the University of Texas. After her children were in elementary school, she returned to Texas Woman's University and received her teaching credentials. She taught for several years at Daugherty Elementary School in Garland. She is survived by her children, Carl and Linda Peavy of Garland and Judy Peavy Boreham of Fort Smith, Ark; her four grandsons, Richard Alexander of Tulsa, Okla., Greg Peavy of Fort Worth, Bill Alexander of Tulsa and Chris Peavy of Dallas; and her two great-granddaughters, Rachel and Renae Alexander of Tulsa. She was a longtime and active member of the First United Methodist Church of Garland. She also was active in numerous clubs and organizations. Memorials should be made to the First United Methodist Church of Garland or First Presbyterian Church of Garland. Private family graveside service will be Thursday, June 10, in Fairmount Cemetery in San Angelo. Robert Massie Funeral Home in San Angelo is handling arrangements. YELL COUNTY, AR Departed this life, on the 4th day of December, A.D., 1844, at his residence in Yell County, Arkansas, Mr. DIAL PEEVEY, SEN., at the advanced age of 80 years, after an illness of several weeks. The subject of this brief notice was born in the State of North Carolina, and was a soldier in the Revolution. He moved to Madison County, Alabama, at an early day, and resided there for a long time before emigrating to Arkansas. He has left a large family ofchildren and grand children, to mourn his departure. His whole life has been that of an honest man.--There is no one that can point at him and say, that he has ever defrauded or injured any one. He has gone to reap his just reward. Arkansas Banner: December 18, 1844 PEEVEY, MYRTIS Died 4/3/1972 Myrtis Peevey, 52, of Brownsville, Tenn., and Colt, died Monday morning in Brownsville suddenly and unexpectedly from a heart attack while at work. He was born April 21, 1919 in Colt and was the son of Mary Vinson Peevey and Luther Benton Peevey. He had lived also at Memphis and had moved to Brownsville about four years ago. He was manager of English Discount Store in Brownsville, a veteran of World War II, a member of the Colt Methodist Church, a member of the VFW and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. He leaves one son, Phillip Ray Peevey of Memphis; one brother, Luther Peevey, Jr., of California; four sisters, Mrs. Rena Armastrong of Colt, Mrs. Ernest Nelson of Jonesboro, Miss Lorhea Peevey of Little Rock and Mrs. Marvin Williams of North Little Rock and four grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Peevey will be held at Stevens Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Berlon Davis in charge of services. Burial will follow in the Hughes Cemetery, St Francis County, Arkansas. PEEVEY, PAUL R. HEBER SPRINGS, AR Paul R. Peevey, 86, of Heber Springs Arkansas passed away Nov. 27, 2010, in Little Rock. Born June 2, 1924, in Colt, he was the son of the late Horace and Maude Higgs Peevey. Mr. Peevey was a Navy veteran of World War II and a retired law enforcement officer with more than 40 years of service. He served as a U.S. marshal, chief deputy sheriff of St. Francis County and a member of the Forrest City police. He was a member of Heber Springs First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clydella Peevey; two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his son, Robert Paul Peevey (Karen) of Jonesboro; a brother, Jim Peevey (Betty) of Baton Rouge, La.; two grandchildren, Robert Peevey (Stephanie) and Tracy Roberts (Heath) of Jonesboro; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. today at Olmstead Funeral Home in Heber Springs.Funeral service with military honors will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith. Peevey died at the V.A. Hospital in Memphis on Nov. 21, 2006. He was 48 years old. He was born Oct. 5, 1958 in South Bend, Ind. Mr. Peevey was a member of the Smith Chapel Church and was a carpet layer. Survivors are his mother: Mary Owens of Wynne; father: Larry Wayne Peevey of Palestine; brother: Michael Peevey of Wynne; sister: Deborah Mathis of Wynne. The family requests memorials be sent to Smith Chapel Church. Burial: Cogbill Cemetery, Wynne, Cross County, Arkansas, USA Wynne Progress December 1, 2006 PEEVY PEEVY, LARRY DON ALMA, AR Birth: 1961, in Alma, Crawford County, Arkansas Larry Don Peevy, 2 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Peevy of Alma, Arkansas, died Thursday, November 21, 1963 at Crawford County Memorial hospital after a short illness. Other survivors are two sisters, two brothers, the paternal grandparents, and his maternal grandparents. Funeral service was held Saturday at 3 o'clock at the Mountain Grove Baptist church with Dennis Whitson officiating. Burial was at Simmons Cemetery under the direction of Fentress Mortuary. PEEVY, WALTER ROME (GUBE) ALMA, AR Walter Rome "Gube" Peevy of Alma, Arkansas was born October 6, 1920, and died Monday, August 9, 2004, in a local hospital. He had worked at Bruce Rogers Co. and Allen Canning Co. Walter served in the Army as a member of 1212th Military Police Company during World War II in the India-Birma Campaign and received the World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, AP Theater Ribbon and a Bronze Service Star. Walter was a member of the Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Alma. He was preceded in death by a son Larry Don Peevy; his parents, Burl and Vash Peevy; two brothers, Burl Ray and Roger Peevy. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, two daughters, and sons-in-law, two sons and daughters-in-law, 10 grandchildren and three-great-grandchildren, one sister, and four brothers all of Alma. Funeral was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 12, at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel with burial at Simmons Cemetery near Dyer under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home. Pallbearers were his grandsons and grandsons-in-law. PEVEY 
PEVEY, RONALD STAR CITY, AR Ronald Pevey, Sr., 69, of the Woodlawn Community, passed away Dec 15, 2009, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, after a long, brave, dignified, battle with cancer. He possessed a will to live and a faith in God that was greater than many will ever witness. He was a Christian. He worshiped at Overcoming Faith in Star City, AR where he loved worshiping with his father-in-law, Rev. Jack C. Bates. He lived an exemplary life. He loved and doted on his family. He instilled in his children and grandchildren that hard work, good morale, and a loving family was cherished assets. He taught these values by living the lessons he taught. He was born to the late Louis Pevey and the late Ethel Millen Pevey on October 25, 1940 in Monticello, Arkansas. He was reared and received his education in and around Star City, Arkansas. In March 1958 he joined the United States Air Force where he worked with the Air Police training dogs. In 1984 he went to work for the Arkansas Department of Corrections where he worked training drug and attack dogs. He retired as a Sergeant in 2002. He was a member of the Arkansas Department of Corrections Retirement Association. His parents, Louis and Ethel Pevey, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Renee� Pevey, a granddaughter, Elizabeth Stiltner, and brothers, Clifton Lee Pevey, Bobby Pevey, and Ted Pevey. Two sisters, Pat Gavin (J.W.) of Herbine and Jane Randolph (William) of Sheridan, as well as three brothers, his twin brother, Richard Pevey of Star City, George Pevey (Maude Lynn) of Griffit Springs and Tony Pevey of Clearwater Lake. Honorary pallbearers are Rick Wagner, Ed Lagrone, Jonh Edmondson, and Jimmy Kimbrell. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 17, 2009, 6-8 p.m., at Ralph Robinson�s.
