Services for Charles Raymond Peavey, age 80, of Pell City, Alabama were held Wednesday, March 17, 2010 in the Kilgroe Chapel at Kilgroe Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Rich officiating.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Hannah Peavey, his son Steve Randall Peavey; his parents, Benny and Drucilla Peavey; and three brothers, James, Bobby and Alec.

Survivors include a son, Mark Anthony Peavey; two daughters, Donna Peavey Baker and Rita peavey Alverson; a sister, Gladys Peavey Spence; grand-children, Jeffrey Baker, Jr., Justin Baker, Rachel Baker, Brandon Alverson, and Heather Alverson; great-grandchildren, Brittany Baker and Emma Baker.

Mr. Peavey was born in Montezuma, Georgia. He served in the 82nd Airbourne Division. Mr. Peavey worked at Avondale Mills and retired after 42 years.

Douglas J. Peavey, 73, of Madison entered into rest Thursday, November 1, 2012 at UAB in Birmingham surrounded by his family.

He was born March 13, 1939 in Belleville, Alabama to Vonnie Neal and Annie Maude Merrille Peavey. He was a member of Meek Baptist Church in Arley, Alabama. He retired from Redstone Arsenal as a computer systems administrator. He was a member of the Rocket City Harley Club and he enjoyed reading, boating and Alabama football.

Visitation will be Monday, November 5, 2012 at Meek Baptist Church in Arley from 12:30-2pm, where services will be held at 2pm. Burial will be in Meek Cemetery in Arley. Reverend Thomas Hyche will officiate.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Peavey will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 2pm at First Baptist Church, Madison, Alabama.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rebecca Peavey; daughters, Lynn Dianne Southgate and her husband Edward, Anne Carolyn Peavey; he was Papa to 2 grandchildren, Taylor Douglas Southgate, Parker Royce Southgate; nieces, Michele (Mark) Hanshaw, Bailey Peterson, Ramsey Tate; nephews, Michael Henderson, Ryan Howard, Barton Tate, Caleb Fleming and Austin Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vonnie Neal and Annie Maude Peavey; sister, Gwendolyn Peavey Kloster; and brother, Harold Merrille Peavey.

Harold W., Peavey, 78, a resident of Georgiana, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006 in a Georgiana Hospital.

Jewell Almarie Peavey Rymer was born in 1913 in Louisiana where she spent most of her life. She relocated to Alabama almost 15 years ago to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at UAB Medical Center, Birmingham, Ala. Tangipahoa Methodist Church, Tangipahoa, was her home church and she enjoyed being a part of their card and telephone ministry as both recipient and contributor. In her much younger days she was a devoted Sunday school teacher. She was employed by Pike Memorial Hospital in Kentwood from its opening until it closed.

She is survived by her daughter, Emma Dean Rymer Ricks and her husband, Donald E. Ricks; grandson, James B. Ricks; two great-grandchildren, Hogan C. Ricks and Holland C. Ricks, all of Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband, James DeLoy Rymer; parents, Frank Peavey and Nannie D. Hutchinson Peavey; and brother, Lawrence Peavey.

In lieu of flowers and in keeping with her simple and practical lifestyle, the best tribute to her would be for those who would like to do something in her memory to simply send a card of encouragement to some sick, needy or discouraged person or even a perfectly healthy one who might like a nice surprise in hearing from a friend. Priscilla Peavey, 77, of Mobile, peacefully passed away at Providence Hospital, Saturday May 25, 2013, after a lengthy illness. Her family was by her side at the time of her passing. Priscilla was born to the late William and Helen Morey January 17, 1936 in Westerly Rhode Island. She grew up in neighboring Pawcatuck Connecticut, where she attended West Broad Street Elementary School, and Stonington High School. After graduating from high school, Priscilla furthered her education at the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Providence RI

Priscilla married her husband, Robert Peavey on October 5, 1957 in Westerly Rhode Island. They lived in Rhode Island, Florida, Ohio, Virginia, and Alabama, returning to Mobile for a second time in 1977, where she lived until the time of her death. Priscilla worked at St. Luke's Episcopal School as Secretary to the Headmaster, before joining First National Bank of Mobile, where she retired from AmSouth Bank in 1998.

Priscilla was an active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church where she served on the Altar Guild. She was also instrumental, and served as co-chair, in having the Church Altar Kneelers replaced. This was a 10 year commitment on a Volunteer basis. All of the Kneelers were crafted by hand through the art of Needlepoint, and represent "Creation." Priscilla also loved to knit, creating sweaters, socks, and scarves of vibrant colors for friends and family to enjoy. She volunteered in the Gift Shop at Providence Hospital, assisting customers with their requests, wrapping gifts, and finishing each one with a special bow made by hand. Priscilla loved to play Bridge, and this is what she did every Wednesday afternoon, with a close knit group of very dear friends. She did not travel much but did enjoy long weekends on Lake Martin, and cheering on the Auburn Tigers during Football Season.

Priscilla is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert Peavey of Mobile; daughter Leah Peavey of Mobile; son Scott Peavey of Tampa; sisters Suzanne Morey Hatchell of Strongsville OH, and Sharon Handin of Albany NY. She also leaves behind twelve nieces and nephews, nine grand nieces and grand nephews, and her beloved yellow Labrador Retriever Abbey, who misses her dearly. Mr. Peavy was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church and on various other committees. He was a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Greenville and Director of the Butler County Fair and managed the fairgrounds for many years; was a WWII veteran serving in the Merchant Marines (a division of the Coast Guard); a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge, Eureka Lodge #64, Greenville; on the Board of Directors for Fort Dale Academy; on the City Council in Greenville; served on the Planning Commission in Greenville; also serving on the Board of Directors for the Laguna Beach Property Owners Association in Panama City Beach, FL.

Larry W. Peavy, 57, passed away on Monday, Nov. 21, 2011 at a Mobile hospital.

Mr. Peavy was a native and lifelong resident of Uriah, Ala., a member of the Iron Worker�s Local 798 for 39 years and attended the Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Peavy of Uriah; two sons, Anthony W. and Crystal R. Peavy of Uriah and Quinton A. and Lynn Peavy of Atmore; four grandchildren, Ryan Peavy, Laci Peavy, Carson Peavy and Maddie Hartley; three brothers, Charles Peavy of Atmore, Donnie Peavy and Jerry Peavy, both of Uriah; and two sisters, Betty Watson of Robinsonville, Ala. and Mary Snow of Uriah.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at 10 a.m., at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charlie McGhee and the Rev. Jesse Bohannon officiating. Burial will follow at the Peavy Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, between 6 and 9 p.m., at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home

On April 15th, the death angel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.F. HICKS and took as its victim her mother, Mrs. Laura PEAVY, age 78. The deceased was confined to her bed about three months. All was done that loving hands could do, but God saw fit to take her out of her suffering.

She leaves to mourn her loss three sons and one daughter: Mr. G.M. PEAVY, Mr. M.A. PEAVY, C.M. PEAVY, and Mrs. J.F. HICKS, also several grandchildren and a host of friends.

She was laid to rest at New Prospect cemetery 10 miles southeast of Greenville, Rev. CONNOR of Bolling officiating.

PEAVY, LEVI DANIEL

SUMTER, AL

Levi Daniel Peavy died in Cuba, Sumter County, AL on 12 May 1838. He was born on 11 Dec., 1794 in Florida.

He is buried in the woods behind the home place on Cuba-Lauderdale Road. There is one lone grave there. His tombstone is still in remarkably good shape to be that old.

A memorial marker for him has been placed in Rawson Cemetery, Lauderdale County, MS beside his wife Elizabeth Gordon Peavy.

Lloyd Russell Peavy, a native of Mobile AL and a resident of Chunchula, died Saturday Apr 5, 2008 at a family home. He was 76.

Peavy was a member of Georgetown United Methodist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Carlene G. Peavy of Georgetown; a son, William Russell Peavy of Georgetown; and a brother, Travis E. Peavy of Tucson, Ariz.

Nancy Stewart Peavy, age 81, a former resident of Magnolia Springs, died Friday January 13, 2012 in a local nursing facility.

Mrs. Peavy was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Thomas Kendall Peavy, and her parents Fred and Margaret Stewart. She is survived by her sons, John R. Peavy (Kathy) and Thomas K. Peavy, II (Ruthie), six grandchildren Ryan Marcopulos, Jay (Colleen), Maggie, Mary Elizabeth, Thomas (Katie) and Mollie, and great grandchildren Grace and Leo Marcopulos.

Nancy was an avid College basketball fan and loved her Kentucky Wildcats. She was passionate about her sons and was a loving wife. The family wishes to express our appreciation to the staff at Cogburn Midtown and especially that of Angela Westry who loved and cared for her. We also want to thank Mobile Infirmary Hospice for their support and guidance. A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Pine Crest Cemetery. MCKENZIE, AL Mr. T.P. PEAVY of route one McKenzie died Sunday morning at Stabler's infirmary at Greenville where he underwent an operation last Thursday. He was taken suddenly ill Wednesday. Mr. Peavy was 83 years of age and had been in good health until taken ill Wednesday.

He was born and reared in Beat 2, South Butler, moving to Shreve below McKenzie 24 years ago where he has since resided.

He was a Confederate soldier and a member of the Christian church of which he was a member 36 years.

His wife preceded him to the grave some years ago. He is survived by one daughter Mrs. Mattie MCQUEEN of Mobile, two sons, E.F. PEAVY and A.R. PEAVY of McKenzie.

Burial was at New Home cemetery, below McKenzie, on Monday.

Tomie Wayne Peavy, 62, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at a local health care facility after a brief illness. He was a native of Taylor, Ark., and an eight-year resident of Fairhope.

Peavy retired as a U.S. Army sergeant first class after 20 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Peavy of Fairhope; a daughter, Janell Sue Peavy of Louisville, Ky.; a son, John Charles Peavy of Bedford, Ky.; a sister, Deborah Wynne of Springhill, Ark.; and one granddaughter.

Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 1:15 p.m. Friday at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola.

Mrs.Sarah J.PEEVEY passed after a long illness this afternoon Jan 10, 1930.

She was one of the oldest residents of Huntsville and for many years a prominent figure in the social, church and patriotic affairs of this city.

She died this afternoon at 3:20 o'clock at her home on West Clinton after a long illness.She had been in declining health a long time due to her advanced age of ninety-three years. News of her death will be received with universal regret throughout the city and county.

Mrs. Peevey is survived by a son Capt. Hinds M. Peevey, well known mining engineer of Barkersburgh, W.Va. and a daughter Miss Hattie Peevey of Huntsville. Capt. Peevey had been attending the bedside of his mother until a few days ago when her condition improved to such an extent that he thought it safe for him to return home.

Arrangements for the funeral will not be completed until the son's return.

Mrs. SUSAN E. MARTIN, one of the oldest residents of Madison County died last night at 11 o'clock at the home of Mrs. THOMAS MCKELVEY at Owens X Roads. Old age was the cause of her death. She was a sister- in-law of Mrs. SARAH PEEVEY of Huntsville. She was known to many of the older citizens of Madison County and was held in high esteem. The funeral will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock in Maple Hill Cemetery.
