Nehemiah served in the War of 1812 in Sprague's 55th Regiment. His rank on enlistment was 'Private'.

According to the 1850 census, Nehemiah & Selinda were living in Sycamore, Dekalb County, Illinois. They had moved there sometime between 1838 and 1840.

After Nehemiah died Selinda moved to Wisconsin to live with her son, Ichabod Wood Peavy. She died there on 29 September 1883 in Vernon County, Wisconsin. She is buried at Brush Hollow Cemetery, Vernon County, Wisconsin. (Information from Lettie Holland)
