The Peavey Library was built in 1893 through the generosity of Frank H. Peavey, a native of Eastport, who made his fortune in the grain business in the Midwest in Minnesota. It was built to honor his father. The Peavey Library is owned and operated by the Eastport Library Association.

Frank Hutchinson Peavey was born Jan 18, 1850 Eastport, Maine and was the son of Albert D. & Mary (Drew) Peavey. He married Mary Dibble Wright of Iowa.




Frank H. Peavey built a Grain Elevator in Sioux City, Iowa.
