OCCUPATION: William was a Boarding House Keeper in 1860, Farmer in 1870, Brickmaker

William first lived at the foot of Greeley Hill on the south side of the road near the brook. John Greeley had lived there before him. He had a brickyard there. He then moved down near Thompson pond where he built a log house north of where the brickhouse now stands. He had a brickyard near Morses Cove. His son Cyrus was born in the log house.

He moved his family to Stoneham, Massachusetts in 1850. He ran a hotel in Stoneham Square. He and his family lived here until the beginning of the Civil War.

Several of his sons then went to war. His son David was Captain of a Stoneham company. After the boys left, he sold out and returned to his farm in Oxford, where he died suddenly of heart trouble.
