Benjamin Abbot Peavey was born in Greenfield shortly after his parents built their new home in that location. He is found with his father Major Peter Peavey Sr. in the 1800 and 1810 Census reports in Greenfield. He is not found in the 1820 Census which may have been due to the fact that he was in the process of getting married. He is listed in the 1830 Census in Hancock which agrees with that town's history and then he moves on to NY in 1838 and is listed in the 1840 Census there. (Lisa Braendle)

Benjamin Abbott Pevey married, May 13, 1820, Clarissa Whittemore, daughter of Amos Whittemore, who was born December 11, 1799, died May 19, 1871.

Resided in Greenfield & Bennington, NH; Schaghticoke, NY. Owned a Mill. He resided in Greenfield and Bennington, New Hampshire and Schaghticoke, New York. In the fall of 1853 one of his sons bought of John A. Putnam the mill that was built by Philip Putnam and carried it on for several years.
