Occupation: He practiced law, was president of an academy, and was a state senator. Note: The Journal of Enoch Place mentions the death of Samuel Pitman Peavey Esquire: �On Sunday October 11, 1857 we got news of the death of Samuel, son of Hudson and Hannah (Pitman) Peavey in Bethlehem, New Hampshire and of his funeral this day. His death was sudden casued by a fit at the age of 55. He was a former resident of this village and we prayed during the morning services for his father Hudson (his mother having passed away last year), and for his widow and daughter as well as his brothers and sisters. Tears flowed freely from this minister and the family and friends as this was a worthy man taken in his prime.�

(Above statement using pluaral �brothers and sisters� would indicate that Jeremiah Jewett, George, Abigail and Betsy were still alive. Also the use of the singular �daughter� indicates Emily was their only child.)
