NOTES: From Karen Butler in Hastings,Nebraska who was descended from Sarah Peavey Goodridge of Clinton, Maine.
Sarah Peavey Goodridge was the last of the children of Samuel Peavey and Alice Mills. They did have an interesting story in the family. "While away in Boston, Massachusetts young Sarah married John Peavey. She brought him home to Maine and her mother informed her that she had married her 1st cousin. She claimed this John Currier was the son of her older brother John Peavey." They stayed married but moved to Nebraska having seven children - all okay. No known birth defects. All turned out prosperous and of good reputation. Karen Butler did the whole round up on the family, obits and all.

NOTES: June Peavey - June 2002
According to Frank Augustus Peavey his forefather Samuel had 12 sons all with Bible names. We cannot account for all of them as of yet. He very well could have had a son John who went to Boston, MA instead of the migration to ME about 1806 from the Brentwood, NH area.

BASED ON THE SISTERS TESTIMONY: We would put John Currier Peavey with father John Peavey as Grandson of Samuel Peavey and Alice Mills.

Samuel is of course from inventor line and goes back to William (the mariner) at Portsmouth, NH. William's son John married Dorcas? and when they left for Maine John was missing (assumed already deceased possibly?) John and Dorcas had the son Samuel. With Samuel and Alice was a lady named Dorcas, ( assuming it is Samuel's mother) Benjamin, William, and Jacob, Joseph, Steven. Then in Maine they had more kids, Daniel, Sarah, Samuel Jr. etc. John of course is a Bible name so this all fits in. So does James to hook in James Peva. But is the account of 12 Bible named sons correct?

It was in Gladys Fuller's records where she had the account of them leaving town for Maine. When I saw Benjamin and William listed with them I thought it was a good lead to follow. I found both listed in the census in Samuel's area over by Kennebec County. Then there was an old couple living in the household of Benjamin in later census. We can't find where Samuel and Alice died to get obit or death certificate or probate. I have the feeling that they are buried in the family plot with Benjamin's kin

Now here is where my mind said," OH OH something is rotten in Denmark!" It is merely speculation based solely on the naming of children and John's middle name of Currier. Added to the Leroy Deering Peavey account.

Leroy says Thomas son of Abel went to ROCHESTER, NH (later called Farmington). He had several sons and we have lines hooked to them. All these from Thomas we call Road Preacher lines.

One of these sons was Daniel who has some missing sons. LEROY BASED ON LOCATION HAS SPECULATED THAT ABRAHAM who is Barbara's progenitor is one of the sons. He is known by records to have been in Rochester and it is a very probable connection. Could be other sons lines from Thomas however.

When Leroy was encountered by the files of William B Peavey descending from Simon Peavey. Leroy did the same location hook up. Simon married Varney from Rochester so he was also birds of a feather. Abraham and Simon are both old testament names and it seems Daniel was going heavy on old testament names for his kids.

I took a look at the names and Sylvester was in the line. Then we searched out John Currier and found he named a son Sylvester. Currier is a surname in that area. But could also be in Boston as it is an old name. The john Currier in question has no doubt a mother with maiden name of Currier. Thusly naming her son John Currier Peavey. Always reminds me of Currier and Ives paintings.

We find another Peavy naming Sylvester and they claim the name was Peavey in the beginning and they dropped the last e and that is Gladys Fuller's kin. They marched across Pennsylvania to Western NY. Location wise Boston, MA does not fit them.

Boston does fit an older son of Samuel and Alice named John who went there from Brentwood area. His sister says it was her brother John who had John Currier. Someone from that inventor line needs to check the Currier genealogies and records. I thought possibly Leroy hooked Simon onto Daniel in error and that he was another Bible named sons of Samuel andAlice Mills merely because he named Sylvester and so did John Currier Peavey. I thought they went together because of it possibly. First I thought Simon was possibly Inventor line and not road Preacher line.

Then I decided no, Leroy is correct because of location. Then I thought John Currier was from Road preacher line if Simon was hooked to Road preacher. Well, we come to the conclusion that of all the John Peavey's with sons John from Road preacher lines have been searched (as that is Jackie's connection.) We do not find a John from Road preacher with a son John Currier Peavey. Therefore we are back to Boston.

We have to face the fact that this John Currier Peavey has a father John claimed to be the brother of Sarah Peavey inventor line. With the testimony of his sister you most likely better hook him on as grandson of Samuel through son of Samuel, John Peavey. Inventor line people might try to verify this by finding the John who married a Currier and see if they can get a fathers name for the guy.

We are lucky that he is claimed so best go with it until proven incorrect. My suspicious Sylvester name could easily be explained if we find in the Currier line use of the name Sylvester. This is most likely the case. Edward, William (the Mariner), John married to Dorcas?, Samuel,John, John Currier.
