WORLD WAR I "The Great War" 1914 - 1918

What was intended as a brief, strictly limited war between Austria-Hungry and Serbia escalated into something that even the most warlike ministers in Berlin and Vienna became alarmed.

The United States entered the war in 1917. Woodrow Wilson was president. The 26th Yankee Division of New England National Guard trained at Camp Green, Charlotte North Carolina.
