PEVERLY POND Poem by Elain Peverly

PEVERLY POND
                     by Elaine Peverly

Tall trees to shade the path
Around sweet Peverly Pond,
Where we can stroll at leisurely pace,
And stop to see birds in trees beyond.

Or sit on bench near water’s edge
And watch the fish and ducks-
Watch the tiny animals scurry
Near bush and ferns so plush.

And there in unobtrusive blind-
Peek out to see them play,
Or find a tidbit sweet to eat
On this sunshiny day.

Over there a chipmunk skitters,
And birds swoop through the trees,
But as long as we are quiet
They run and swim and fly with ease.

Just a quiet place to be
Among God’s creatures all,
Away from the world’s bustle-
Here at Peverly Pond to call.
