CAUSE OF DEATH: Pneumonia, contracted while in the line of duty.

PROOF OF MARRIAGE: John Baird and Melissa C. Fields, married Feb. 14, 1856, in Woodford Co., Illinois, by Benjamin Younger, Justice of the Peace. Affidavit of Woodford Co., Ill., county clerk.

Elva Ellen Baird, born July 19, 1857, Woodford Co., Ill.
Landa Brittain Baird, born Sept. 14, 1859, Polk Co., Mo.
Sigel Fields Baird, born Oct. 23, 1861, Polk Co., Mo.
Affidavit of Mrs. Harriet Brittain, who said she was present at the births of all of the above children.

ADJUDICATION: Approved August 29, 1864, at the rate of $15.00 per month, retroactive to March 20, 1863. File #29,324
