8 Nov 1825 Had departed Halifax with much needed supplies for Miramichi, where fires have caused considerable damage to life and property.

31 Jan 1828 arrived Plymouth from the river, with seamen for the Ocean and Windsor Castle.

13 Sep 1828 departed Plymouth, with the Meteor and Britomart in company, en route for Tangier, to demand the return of two British merchantmen captured by Barbary pirates. See the Meteor for more info.

18 Nov 1828 in Tangier Bay blockading the port of Tangier.

31 Jan 1829 arrived Cork from Tangier Bay, the blockade having been lifted on the 18th.

23 May 1829 departed Cork trials off the coast.

14 May 1831 departed Plymouth for Portsmouth and North Shields, Commander Glascock, in command.

8 Jun 1832 arrived Spithead from Cork in 48 hours to undergo repairs.

9 Jun 1832 came into harbour to be repaired.

18 Jun 1832 taken out of dock after undergoing various repairs.

4 Jul 1832 went out to Spithead.

6 Jul 1832 departed Spithead to join the Donegal, which has just departed the Downs for North Yarmouth, to rendez-vous with the Castor and Tyne, all bound for Plymouth.

13 Jul 1832 with the Donegal as flagship, passed by Portsmouth down the Channel to the westward, en route for Plymouth, in company with the the Castor and Trinculo.

15 Jul 1832 arrived Plymouth from the Downs, with the Donegal, Castor, and Trinculo.

18 Jul 1832 the squadron embarked 300 marines from shore and departed Plymouth Sound that evening for Cork.

21 Jul 1832 arrived at Cork with the squadron, which, along with the Donegal, included the Castor, Nimrod, Orestes, Trinculo, the troopship Jupiter, the steamer Messenger, the Admiralty lighter Hamoaze. The Nimrod, Orestes, Trinculo, and Onyx departed Cork on the 23 Jul., who then proceeded along the coast and spread the word to local magistrates that they had a strong marine force on board should they be needed to maintain the peace : they were to be joined later by the Donegal and Tyne.

6 Aug 1832 Donegal returned to Cork with the Tyne, Nimrod, Orestes, Trinculo and Onyx, after a cruise to the Westward.

circa 11 Aug 1832 has departed the squadron and been sent to Lisbon.

28 Sep 1832 in the R. Douro. Reports from the Childers, to the Flag Ship Asia, state that the Miguelites had been firing into the ship, and the Orestes, and that the Captain's steward of the Childers had been seriously wounded.

11 Nov 1832 at Oporto.

25 Nov 1832 moored off Oporto, with the Aetna, and Nautilus, under the south shore, out of reach of the fire of the contending parties.

5 May 1834 arrived Portsmouth from the north coast of Spain, last from Plymouth, will be paid off into ordinary on Saturday next.

2 Sep 1834 went out to Spithead and will sail for the Mediterranean when the wind is fair.

2 Jan 1835 on the Gibraltar and coast of Spain station. It was noted by the Madagascar, on her arrival at Portsmouth, from Malta, via Gibraltar, that 2 of the crew had been murdered recently in Alicante ; a gunner named Lee, and a ropemaker named Sparles, from Portsmouth. 31 Jan 1835 is reported to be on the Coast of Spain.

26 Aug 1835 is reported to have left the Mediterranean squadron at Corfu when she departed for Malta on the 15th.

13 May 1836 is reported to have departed Gibraltar for Minorca.

10 Jun 1836 is reported to be cruising the Mediterranean coast of Spain.

5 Nov 1841 Spithead, arrived from Rio Janeiro in 36 days, and having experienced very bad weather, in which she lost several of her boats : she has now came into harbour to be paid off.

12 Nov 1841 Portsmouth, was paid off.

29 Dec 1841 was taken into Dock at Portsmouth.

23 Jul 1842 was undocked at Portsmouth this morning.

22 Aug 1842 commissioned at Portsmouth.

27 Sep 1842 taken out of the basin and to be prepared for overseas service.

13 Oct 1842 involved in a trial of lightning conductors opposite the Dockyard Semaphore Tower, the invention of Mr. Snow Harris.

24 Oct 1842 due to go out to Spithead to continue her preparation for her passage to the West Indies.

26 Oct 1842 went out of harbour to Spithead and her ship's company was due to be paid today, Saturday, and is expected to sail Monday for Bermuda, for service in the West Indies.

31 Oct 1842 departed Spithead for the West Indies with dispatches for Sir Charles Adam.

12 Nov 1842 arrived at Madeira, from Spithead, en route for the West Indies.

1 Jan 1851 arrived in the Mozambique Channel.

7 Jan 1851 off Cape Fitzwilliam the boats of the Castor, Orestes, and Dart were manned and armed and sent up the River Monega, in lat. 17� 17' S. long. 38� 5' E., in order to obtain restitution for the actions of the Macona tribe a few days previously, in kidnapping 2 of the officers from the Castor on 3 Jan. However, on arriving at the village it was found to have been deserted by the able bodied tribesmen and was burnt.

22 Mar 1851 detained in Lat. 17� 48' S. Long. 37� 5' 5" E., off Quillimane, bound for Lisbon, the Portuguese slave brig Eolo, late Sardinian polacca San Francisco 2ndo, the Late Senhor Estevao J Tabarez, Portuguese Navy, master, which was sent for adjudication to Mixed Commission at Cape Town and on 23 May 1851 sentenced to be condemned by a majority vote, which was subsequently bought into the service as a tender.

May 1851, whilst at the Cape of Good Hope a young officer from the Orestes and another from the Pandora were drowned when their dinghy was swamped when alongside the Castor. 2 other occupants of the boat survived the accident.

14 Dec 1851 due a share of the prize money, with the Castor, of an un-named dhow captured this day.

24 Jan 1852 detained in lat. 35� 16' S., long. 25� 12' E., the Spanish slave brig Mariana, which was sent for adjudication to the Vice-Admiralty Court at Cape of Good Hope, and on 12 Feb 1852 sentenced to be condemned.
