"In 1876 families named Deines, Bender, Mai, Doetz, etc. came from Kratzke to America on the S.S. Frisia and settled at Bender Hill eleven miles south of Russell, Kansas. Brent Mai gives the dates of all people named Deines who came from Kratzke, as well as telling about other people named Deines who remained in Germany or came to America from Norka, Russia. It is amazing that this work was done while Brent was still a high school student!" -- taken from an Emma S. Haynes review of Brent Alan Mai, compiler, Deines Dynasty, A Family History, Sharon Springs, Kansas, 1982, hard cover, 420 pp, which review was printed in the AHSGR Journal Vol.3, no.2 (Summer 1983), p.42.
