David JUNIER and Miss Priscilla MATHEWS, both of Bernice, married at the parsonage on July 7th by Rev. B. F. Keller.

Mrs. E. J. WATTERSON, died at the residence of John K. Bird, near Millview on Saturday, 10th, aged about 42 years. Deceased has until a year past been a resident of Cleveland, NY.

Col. PELTON, the noted nephew of Samuel J. TILDEN, died in NY, on the 8th, aged 42 years

Jacob S. HOTTENSTEIN, a veteran of 8(?), has voted the democratic ticket for 60 years. He lost two sons in the late war.

Mr. Will ROGERS and Dr. Will RANDALL, of Forksville were in town last week. We understand that the Doctor has lately been married to a Miss UPDEGRAFF, of Williamsport.

How to Become Naturalized

Charles W. SILVARA, of Meshoppen, who has been visiting Mr. B. M. SILVARA of this place, was called home Monday by the sudden death of a daughter.

G. W. BIXBY, a prominent citizen of Wyalusing, died of Cholera morbus last Monday after a severe illness of less than two days. He came to Wyalusing from Rochester, NY some 28 years ago. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, in his 60th year (more on his business)

A daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Joseph DEEGAN, of LaPorte, died of diphtheria Saturday night

There were three funerals at the Catholic Cemetery on Thursday. The first was a child of Martin M. WELLES of Barclay; then Mrs. MURRAY of Colley and Mrs. ADAMS of Bernice.

Trial List Sept. 1880

Michael FOX, an old and highly respected resident of Cherry, was laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery Monday forenoon. He was about 66 years of age and had been ailing for some time.

A four year old child of James KANE, of Cherry Flats, fell into a boiler of hot water on Friday and was so badly scalded that it soon died. The remains were buried in Catholic Cemetery on Sunday. This is the third case of the kind we have had to record within a few months.

1 Sept. 1880

John YAPLE died at his residence in New Columbia Boro; Monday afternoon, aged 73 years. Death caused by disease of the kidneys. His funeral took place yesterday (Shickshinny Echo, 27th ult)

James BUCKALEW, died. Removed from Cambria to Florence AZ about 2 years ago in search of health. He died Aug. 13th of consumption. He leaves a wife, a daughter of T. Q. A. Stevens and two children to mourn his loss in their far-off home.

Frank MC CULLOUGH’s body was found Sunday morning lying beside the LVRR just below Wilkes-Barre. It was thought he was killed by a train but the wild talk of George MILLER led to his arrest for murder.
