Information on this project was derived from the Bradford County, Tuscarora Township and Susquehanna County Historical Societies. Information was also taken from headstone readings, obituaries, the Darius Coleman and Cogswell Genealogies, and Carol Brotzman’s church historian’s records. The original plot map of the cemetery is reproduced at the end of this page. A copy of the plot map was found in papers belonging to Annis Minerva Crawford, daughter of Daniel and Mirinda Cogswell Crawford. Lyle Madison of Mesa, Arizona recalls his Uncle Nicholas Madison (1853-1913) buried in Quinby Cemetery. He thought that Nicholas Madison may have buried his brother John Madison in the Madison cemetery. As Lyle remarks, "Nick would have put John in a pine box and buried him with no stone.". John Madison is actually the natural father of Reuben Featherbay. There is no headstone located for him at Madison or Quinby now; however many of the stones were removed by a previous owner. Historians note regarding this family: Moses Quinby, born October 3, 1809, married Jane Brown, also born in 1809. He married second to Annis Minerva Crawford, widow of Hamilton Stowe Sturdevant. Annis married thereafter to Clinton Keeney about February 1, 1874.
